The PostgreSQL Server Info panel in DataCollie is ready too! It's a v1, so features are a bit lean, but it covers all the essential metrics. #PostgreSQL #BuildInPublic

PostgreSQL's privilege management is much more complex than MySQL's. Still, I'm making a little progress every day. #DataCollie #BuildInPublic #JavaFX

Spent the past few days building user and privilege management for MySQL in DataCollie. It’s a surprisingly complex module, with many layers of inheritance. MySQL 8 adds even more moving parts: dynamic privileges, role-based access control, and privilege inheritance. #buildinpublic #mysql

Designing new DBA modules to make database management less of a chore. What’s missing in your current stack?

I’m working to make DataCollie ’s ER diagram experience the best in its class — both in capability and in how it feels to use. #BuildInPublic #JavaFX

Finished the last two pieces of DataCollie’s SQLite support today: Query Console integration and Stella, my Data Agent. Both are now done. DataCollie has reached another milestone. 🚀 #DataCollie #SQLite #AI #BuildInPublic

Meanwhile, MySQL’s native routine debugging capability is basically zero, unless you build your own SQL-level instrumentation. @DataCollie will define a unified debugger abstraction and interaction protocol, making it easier to implement Routine Debugging consistently across different databases.

Tonight, I was impressed once again by #PostgreSQL, a database that truly represents advanced engineering. Its `pldbgapi` extension provides a complete debugging API for Functions and Procedures: breakpoints, Step Into, Step Over, Continue, variable inspection — everything you’d expect.

Recently, I completed DataCollie’s PostgreSQL compatibility work. DataCollie now supports both MySQL and PostgreSQL as relational databases. But this is only the beginning.

When designing permissions for an AI agent, we should follow two principles: 1. Strategically, make sure the agent does the right things. 2. Tactically, stop it from doing the wrong things. These two principles correspond to two different layers of permission control. #DataCollie #JavaFX

And the ability to harness AI is itself an engineering skill that must be continuously refined. Craftsmanship still matters in the AI era. Without it, we’ll only end up producing pile after pile of electronic junk.

AI is a racehorse, not a guide. It needs direction, reins, and someone who knows how to handle it.

Most of my work over the past few days has been about making sure users know what the agent is thinking, where it is, and what it is doing—while giving them clear ways to set boundaries, interrupt it, and steer it in a different direction.

Real-world lessons from building AI agents: My biggest concern isn’t that they aren’t smart enough. It’s that I constantly have to find ways to rein them in and deliberately make them “less smart” before they run too far in the wrong direction.

I also exposed DataCollie’s data access capabilities to the Agent as internal tools, seamlessly integrating Stella Agent into DataCollie as a truly native part of the product.

#BuildInPublic #JavaFX

My local MySQL instance has no password, and she somehow found and used the MySQL client to complete the task. Damn, this is getting out of hand. I need to put her on a leash and make sure she only works within the boundaries and workflows I define.

#DataCollie’s built-in Stella Agent is running wild on my computer like a horse with no reins. I only gave her the ability to execute shell commands, then casually asked her to do something. What she did went far beyond my expectations.

My Stella Agent can finally do more than just chat—it can actually get things done. I’ve completed Tool Call support in OpenAI API-compatible mode, allowing Stella to autonomously execute commands based on its reasoning.

Today I added ChatGPT support to my Agent and discovered something interesting: ChatGPT Plus doesn't include API access. Plus works for ChatGPT, the apps, and OpenAI products like Codex. Third-party apps still need a separate API key, with separate pay-as-you-go billing.

Vector databases, here I come. Qdrant will be the first one supported by #DataCollie. The moment I saw its dashboard, I smiled—so much room for improvement. 😄 Milvus was originally first, but after a closer look... not my style. Sorry, Milvus. You’ll have to wait.

In 2000, Linus said: “Talk is cheap. Show me the code.” That line shaped a generation of programmers. In 2026, Max Xiong says: “Code is cheap. Show me the product.” The real test is whether you can turn code into a product, ship it to real users, and make them willing to pay for it.

Anthropic calling for a global pause on frontier AI is interesting. My simple read: you got to the table first, now you want to raise the entry barrier? AI safety matters. But if “safety” means closed-source giants move forward while open-source builders pause, that’s comedy.
