On top of that, you'll also see some more advanced techniques like "shadow mapping": The key technique for the Volumetric Light to take into account object on the scene which allow from beautiful dynamic shadows when the light source is occluded

Luckily, through post-processing, you can just do that By raymarching a light in world space to draw the right set of pixels you can enhance your scene with beautiful atmospheric light

410 mi later - time for a new pair of running shoes the difference of the state of the cushion between the new and the old one is pretty mind-blowing
Picture featuring to white nike running shoes on top of one another
- the bottom one is the older pair which after 410mi of usage has its cushioning slightly broken/compressed
- the new one at the top features no tear or usage

📝 New Blog Post 📝 I recently went on a "shader creative-spree" where Post-Processing became my main tool for transforming 3D scenes into stylized art In it, I share the techniques behind the many effects I built and how I combined them in unique ways blog.maximeheckel.com/posts/post-p...

spending an ungodly amount of time on Figma to draw these to illustrate some patterns for my upcoming blog post 5 more to go
screenshot showcasing the figma canvas displaying 3 frames

- one containing an isometric depiction of a "paper receipt post-processing effect" floating on top the scene it stylized: a 3D blue cube slightly pixelated to simplify the output
- one containing an isometric depiction of a "pixel pattern" floating on top the scene it stylized: a 3D blue cube slightly pixelated to simplify the output. The pattern changes the pixels (from dark to light) to: pure white, white with a blue circle in the center, blue with a white circle in the center, pure blue.
- The final one showcases the UV coordinates of an ASCII texture containing the characters "." "," "=" and "@" displayed on a pixelated grid

little mosaic post-processing effect to overlay some of my volumetric raymarching work the tricky part here was to make: - each pixel have rounded corners - divide the screen in 8x8 blocks and have those feature more rounded corners Inspired by x.com/misaki_mofu/... r3f.maximeheckel.com/mosaic

in an attempt to distract myself from *waves arms around* I took another stab at this crochet shader - got a more organic look by shifting each row - added some noise for each cell to mimic fabric - pick a random neighbor color (based on the hue) love the output so far r3f.maximeheckel.com/crochet

6. Painted orange tree: Similar than the one above but this time it's an anisotropic Kuwahara filter. Used this specific scene in the headline and preview image of my latest post because I liked it a bit too much

5. Painted clouds: Here I combined an old volumetric raymarched cloudscape scene with the Kuwahara filter from my latest blog post. The effect is not the most obvious, but if you look closely and pause, the painting effect should be more visible. Love the effect and the colors I ended up with

4. Retro: Still going down memory lane but this time not just with dithering and pixelization but also with a CRT cell effect

3. Dithered waves: same as the previous one, but this time I applied pixelization + ordered dithering on top of some Fractal Brownian Motion

Maxime @maxime.bsky.social · 01/11/2024
2. Dithered Blob: did a pretty big deep dive into dithering, and it was interesting to put together work I've done previously with this style. Love the contrasting aesthetic of this organic/smooth raymarched blob with the low-res/ordered dithering

Thread of a few WebGL scene I made this year that I really like (but could not share on here because no video support) 1. Moebius stylized shader: built a post-processing effect to reproduce the style of French artist Jean Giraud
