I'm frankly disgusted. I recently cut someone out of my life who I was incredibly close to because I learned he assaulted another friend of mine a decade ago. That was a real friend. Now all these people are doing rape apologia because of their parasocial relationships with a podcaster? It's vile.

What got me and my dad through the door was the 90ies Legend of the Galactic Heroes. It's animation is dated, but it's basically Prussian coded Space Empire vs Space *EXTREMELY CORRUPT* Liberal Democracy. More of a character driven political space opera, but it actually has things to say.

This is so true. I was never part of Greek life, had friends who were, but I went to frat parties because that's where you could drink underage. And even the culture there, with the men just going to those parties was vile and misogynistic and fed into this.

Souls don't exist, it's an obvious metaphor. We have nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons that by all means should not exist. Scientists created them intentionally, often enthusiastically. I'm not saying an ethics course or two would have changed it, but they sure may have raised some questions
