Unconditional cash transfers have the power to transform ecosystems and deliver #ClimateJustice to communities. Join me Thursday at 4pm BRT for the #BIENCongress with ‪@equalrightorg.bsky.social‬ & @coolearthaction.bsky.social as we showcase their role in conservation and community resilience.

Imagine the power of people uniting to solve critical issues in food, health, and education in their communities. That's why we are building 'Kundi', a platform that provides unconditional cash to support grassroots solutions. See our work here: ootufund.org/kundi.html

Just wrapped up a meeting with the BIEN volunteer group. Grateful to connect with passionate minds from across the globe working to advance UBI and unconditional cash transfers. The movement is growing, and so is the momentum. Let's keep pushing!

Apart from fighting poverty and inequality, unconditional cash transfers provide agency and dignity. Everyone deserves the right to choose when it comes to basics. Paternalistically deciding for others is not only inefficient but also ineffective @equalrightorg.bsky.social @give-directly.bsky.social

Unconditional cash transfers provide an effective and practical approach to link environmental conservation and the fight against poverty. For communities to gain resilience and protect ecosystems, they need lasting solutions built from ground up @equalrightorg.bsky.social @give-directly.bsky.social

All over the world we are facing poverty, increasing inequality, and a climate crisis that cannot be solved by looking left, right, or clinging to outdated economic models. It's time to stop circling old ideas and start moving forward to new ground-up solutions. It's time for UBI.

any harm to the individual ultimately harms the collective. We cannot expect meaningful progress in a society where millions are homeless, jobless, and hopeless. Economic and social advancement requires access to basic resources needed to survive and build. It requires UBI

Time to get our heads out of the sand and act. UBI NOW!

Let's not bury our heads in sand and pretend the solution to poverty and inequality isn't directly in front of us. Everyone deserves equal access to dignity, opportunity and BASIC resources. It's time we stopped pretending and started demanding UBI.

Africa faces a triple crisis of poverty, climate change & underdevelopment rooted in centuries of extraction & exploitation. There is a need for resource injection to people & communities through unconditional cash transfers to build resilience and local-led sustainable solutions.

Globally women do 76% of unpaid care work; in Kenya women spend 4-5 hrs daily. We need to implement policies like UBI that will support and compensate all workers who take care of us and others in our communities. Happy Labour Day!

Every groundbreaking idea arises from a need, a challenge in need of a solution. UBI is no different. It may face objections and criticism today, but history teaches us that great ideas, however resisted at first, ultimately overcome and improve the lives of billions.

Poverty and inequality wouldn't exist if everyone paid their fair share. UBI is not charity; it's EQUITY.

Financial anxieties about basic needs like rent, food and healthcare are a huge burden, impacting the morale and productivity of workers. UBI provides a safety net, alleviating stress and worries and creating a more productive and engaged workforce. It's a win-win for both employers and employees.

most people are living pay cheque to pay cheque under the constant fear of survival, where a single setback can mean poverty. This is counterproductive. We need UBI to free people, enabling them to take risks, pursue education, start businesses, and invest in their communities

Slowly, the world is sliding into anarchy due to the greed and ego of a few insatiable wealthy individuals. Let no one lie to you—the only war we need to fight is the war against poverty and inequality.

In 2010, billionaire Bill Gates and Warren Buffett introduced The Giving Pledge, urging billionaires to commit at least half of their wealth to charity. Decades later, initiative has little to show in tackling global poverty and inequality. Here is how UBI comes in 🧵👇

People need money to participate in the economy and meet their basic needs—without it, potential is wasted, poverty increases, and inequality deepens. Whether it's crypto, alternative, or traditional money, we need a fair system to distribute it to everyone. We need UBI.

Climate change continues to disrupt livelihoods, especially in vulnerable regions; communities affected require immediate relief due to the impact of extreme weather, displacement, or loss of crops and animals. Direct cash transfers provide the resources and autonomy to withstand these challenges.

How many people does it take to solve poverty? Depends—are they using direct cash transfers or just talking about it?😂

Imagine a community where everyone has a basic income. People have the means and confidence to pursue entrepreneurship, turning ideas into local businesses and projects. It not only drives economic growth but also creates individual well-being. With UBI, its possible.

Most programmes against poverty and inequality come with strings attached, conditions that create dependency and control UBI is different; it recognises the inherent worth and dignity of every individual, unconditionally ensuring a minimum standard of living and autonomy.

UBI basically pays for itself and offers more. By reducing poverty and inequality, it boosts economic growth and lowers social service costs. Ripple effects extend to individual well-being and stronger communities, making it not just a safety net but an investment in our future.

The trickle-down economy is a failure; wealth is acumulating at the top while the bottom gets almost nothing. The weight of inequality will lead to the whole system collapsing. Its time for UBI!

Claims that UBI makes individuals lazy are tired and unfounded arguments. People are motivated to work for a variety of reasons, and a basic income actually improves their wellbeing and productivity. Numerous pilots and studies support this. Here is the evidence: www.reddit.com/r/BasicIncom...
