The Mexican Navy's ship Cuauhtémoc is in town on a goodwill visit. The line to board stretched from Pier 17 to Pier 1, so I didn't bother trying to get on it. But I was happy to see so much goodwill being returned. #SanFrancisco #Mexico

Today the San Francisco Historical Society offered a self-guided tour of the Financial District with docents stationed at 14 locations. I was already familiar with a lot of it, but it gave me access to places not normally open to the public, like this room at the Merchants Exchange Building.

A tip for my San Francisco friends wanting to see the installation of giant lasers shooting into the sky in Civic Center: they're great from various angles, but be sure to also stand directly under them. #SanFrancisco #artsky

Merced County Courthouse Museum On a trip to Merced a few years ago, I mistakenly showed up to this museum just as they were closing. Such a minor thing, but it's always bugged me. So today I took the train back down (three hours each way) just to finally see it. #California #travel

Looking out my window, I chuckled at the apparently bureaucracy needed to plant a little tree. Then I was happy to realize they were spreading out and planting trees all along the block to replace the grand old trees blown down over the years by heavy winds. #SanFrancisco 🌱

Chinese New Year Parade, San Francisco Somehow, every year, there's a weird bottleneck, and the dancers from the Alaska Airlines contingent get stuck for at least 20-30 minutes right in front of where I'm standing. I appreciate their energy.
