This is wild —>
Vigil noted in his order that he is aware of only one instance in state history in which an appellate court upheld a finding of outrageous government conduct, and that was in 1988, when La Plata County law enforcement created a fake criminal case against a fake defendant, charged the fake defendant with fabricated crimes and presented the case as real to a judge so that the fake defendant — an undercover officer — could hire a particular defense attorney and investigate the attorney for drug use.

Photo of Dave Kendall from fellow MTV 120 Minutes host Matt Pinfield’s Instagram post announcing Kendall’s death Matt Pinfield on Instagram:

Heartbroken to hear about the passing of Dave Kendall.

Dave was one of the true believers. Long before alternative music found its way into the mainstream, he was there every week on 120 Minutes, introducing people to bands that would go on to define an era. He didn’t just host a show. He gave a home to music that deserved to be heard.

He loved the music, respected the artists, and connected with fans in a way that always felt authentic. That’s a rare gift.
Sending love to everyone whose life he touched.

Rest easy, Dave.

So sad to hear of Dave Kendall's passing. I watched 120 Minutes religiously the years he hosted — he, and the show, were formative — and was thrilled much later when we started emailing over my old music blog, then ended up as colleagues on Sirius XM's 1st Wave. He was so kind and supportive.

Some good news on Jello Biafra’s stroke recovery —>
Update posted today on Jello Biafra's Facebook page: "Jello update. Jello is progressing nicely. His speech has mostly come back in full, and cognitively, it’s like the stroke never happened. The left side is still weak but it is doing much better than it was. He has been living with me so I can care for him, but he is so much more self sufficient than he was, he will most likely go home this coming week. Thank you again for the outpouring of support. It has meant the world to him."

A third new ICE hire, Antonio Barrett, initially failed to graduate from a Colorado law enforcement academy in 2020, one of two students who did not “complete portions of the academy” and received “an incomplete grade,” an email obtained by AP shows.

He finished the program after a community college arranged a special one-day training and test for him, and landed a job at the police department in La Junta, Colorado, in July 2020. But he only worked three weeks before resigning and never worked in local policing again.

Previously, Barrett worked as a corrections officer at a Colorado prison.

He was accused in a lawsuit of excessive force for inflicting pain on a handcuffed inmate when he and another colleague forcibly removed the man from a wheelchair in 2017. But state officials argued their actions were not excessive and a court agreed, dismissing the case.

Somewhere there’s a recording of Kevin Shields and J Mascis doing the “Mission: Impossible” theme
The two men hit it off right away, and as they walked drunkenly through the deserted streets of Osaka at 4:30 in the morning, Reitzell decided to ask Shields if he might be interested in contributing to a film score, if ever he found a suitable project. ‘Sure,’ Shields replied. His only prior experience with film music had been a $5,000 payday he’d shared with J Mascis to demo a version of the Mission Impossible 2 theme song. (In another win for mainstream American culture, Limp Bizkit got the gig instead.) Reitzell knew of Shields’s recent difficulties with Island and his inability to finish new solo work in the studio, but he seemed undeterred.Cover of Andrew Perer’s “Turn My Head Into Sound: A History of Kevin Shields and My Bloody Valentine”

Douglas Richards, the attorney representing the Evergreen High shooter’s parents, told The Denver Post on Wednesday that he believes Desmond slipped the revolver out of the safe while he was with his father.

“I believe what happened is Desmond and his father were cleaning some of the family firearms, and in a moment when his father was not looking, Desmond took a firearm from the back of the safe that was an heirloom and had not been used by the family, ever,” Richards said. “Because the firearm was never used and was not stored with other firearms in the safe, its disappearance was not noticed until after the tragedy.”

Notable that 2 Denver councilmembers on city’s Surveillance Technology Task Force told @denverpost.com they didn't know DPD's drones-as-first-responders pilot program was underway (since October) until learning from reporter. Hours after story posted, DPD issued news release announcing the program.
News release:

Denver Police Department Evaluating Drone as First Responder Technology

Preliminary Pilot Program Data Demonstrates Measurable Successes

Denver – Friday, December 12, 2025 – The Denver Police Department (DPD) has launched a pilot program evaluating cutting-edge Drone as First Responder (DFR) technology designed to improve response times and provide real-time situational awareness during emergency calls to enhance community and officer safety.

“Drone as First Responder technology is trending nationally as a significantly beneficial tool for law enforcement,” said Denver Police Cyber Bureau Commander Clifford Barnes. “The drones can be launched within seconds and typically arrive on-scene of a call for service before patrol officers, providing critical information that can lead to safer response and successful outcomes.”

Unlike passive surveillance systems, the DFR program is strictly responsive – enabling an officer to respond as a remote first responder.
