New from Wissam Jawad & others: synthesis across many species shows 1) Incorporating local adaptation has BIG impacts on predicted vulnerability to warming 2)Pace of warming is much more important than capacity for evolutionary rescue in driving extinction risk. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

How do temperature and resources interact to shape both population and community growth rates? We have a model that makes predictions at both levels! And we test them with experimental data from the lab & field. This one has been gestating for years and we're rather proud of it. Give it a read.

New preprint! Strong but variable seasonal acclimation of thermal limits in Lake Champlain calanoid copepods. Really excited to get this out - our first steps into the freshwater realm! ecoevorxiv.org/repository/v...

One semester down (and what a semester it was…). A definite bright spot, however, has been watching our lab group grow! Looking forward to a summer full of science!

Excited to share our recent paper, which is one of the first phylogenomic analyses of copepods 🧪 TLDR: the order Harpacticoida should be split, with 2 families forming their own new order—Canuelloida doi.org/10.1016/j.ym...

Took some time to come together, but so happy to have this paper out!

New from @jogriffiths61.bsky.social @mattsasaki.bsky.social Isabelle Neylan and me: Experimental evolution is especially useful for revealing trade-offs associated with adaptation to climate change stressors: doi.org/10.1111/gcb....

The Potential for Experimental Evolution to Uncover Trade‐Offs Associated With Anthropogenic and Climate Change Adaptation
Adapting to climate change stressors may be hampered by negative trade-offs that prevent the evolution of optimum values for all traits simultaneously. Therefore, an understanding of trade-offs is ne...
