Although I agree that the second intifada was a mistake (and targeting civilians was morally wrong), neither contradicts the points that the US was hardly a neutral arbitrator and US discourse rarely discussed Palestinian rights as such until recently, or excuses either.

It’s genuinely depressing how Palestinians are babied in reporting like this rather than humanized. You’d never know who controlled the West Bank from 1948-67, and the Intifadas or October 7 get reduced to small print. It’s not empowering or peacemaking, it’s patronizing racism.

It was also fundamentally undermined by all the laws passed in the previous two decades that mandated Israel having a QME. And also that even if Biden did a 100% stop of arms transfers congress had every ability (and 100% would have) overridden him. That doesn't excuse Biden not trying though.
