Among my near endless list of odd traits/hobbies I love finding “junk”, restoring it and selling on. I turned a rusted set of cast iron planters into a stereo receiver. This MCM table had a bad leg, water spots and was covered in old paint. I think it turned out great. 😊 Will trade for speakers. 😂

There’s a little old lady in our neighbourhood. Walks with a cane and always talking on phone. Today, as I was approaching she reached into her little old lady purse, took out a mickey of vodka and apologized to who she was speaking with. “It’s been a day and I need a little nip.” Same lady. Same. 😂

So, I’m on the market for some new (to me) speakers. I’ve narrowed it down to three. One plug and play and will work perfectly. Two, bog standard that will work and I can basically rebuild into something great, which I can do. The third ones are basically Great sounding art and beautiful. Thoughts?

There is a German phase my mom would use with me as a kid: Klappe zu, Affe tot. Basically, it means end of discussion. However its literal translation is “lid closed, monkey dead". The literal/english translation eventually kinda took over in family vernacular. It translates poorly beyond family. 😂

I’m not much for Instagram, but saw a post about Karen Dalton recently that had censored that she battled drug addiction, contracted HIV and died of AIDS related compilations. I kinda called that out as was told ‘those words will suppress the algorithm’. Crazy stuff/times. Anyway, she’s amazing.

This World Cup obviously has (to put it mildly) a bit of an orange cloud hanging over it. That said, I’m a fan and going to a Canada match down the street would be great and I was surprised tickets were still available. Lot’s of ‘em actually. $854 for a single in the ‘cheap’ seats will do that.

Yesterday I walked past a neighbours place and he was sitting on his front porch next to a crate holding a snarling raccoon he’d caught in his yard. He threw on a pair of welding gloves, got him in the crate and was waiting for animal services to get him while having a glass of wine. He is 92!
