In spite of the delays that my ongoing treatment has caused, I have managed to do enough impactful work for the university to promote me to Professor. Couldn't have happened without the students and collaborators I have had over the last four years. I am in your debt.

This US team will make the tournament infinitely more interesting. If they keep playing like that, they'll go deep in tournament. If Australia remembers how to finish moves, they'll likely win. 🫣

And to keep the cup in here.... The result in Canada vs Bosnia was probably what was deserved. Entertaining football.

US were surprising. Beautiful attacking football and in complete control. Paraguay were pretty crap but because the US gave them zero opportunities. As an Australian, I am now worried about the upcoming match. Tomorrow's match with Turkey is now critical.

Here's the serious bit for anyone who'd rather skip the 4000 words of jokes
Because the truth is, tech doesn't have an image problem. It doesn't have a message problem. It has an intention problem. What's wrong with the axe murderer who broke into my house is not that he hasn't successfully persuaded me to buy into his narrative. What's wrong is that he's trying to kill me with an axe. Similarly, when you launch a product that's designed to put millions of people out of work, block access to sources of verifiable truth, replace human creativity with slop, and lower the barriers to every sort of atrocity, the problem isn't that you haven't told the public a good story about those things. The problem is that you are trying to do them. (
There are things in the world that are more important than money. The fact that you seem not to believe this, that you seem to think any motive beyond ruthless acquisitiveness is fake, dishonest, or childish, is the heart of your problem. Your attitude is not by any means unique to tech, but the

Companies selling faulty products by accident recall them and reimburse the customers. Some cost, some (temporary) loss in prestige perhaps. No one goes to jail. This is not the case here. This is more akin to the Theranos or VW emission scandals. And people did go to jail for these.

Yeah. I'm struggling understanding whether the way DIA-NN output is further processed by others is leading to poor interpretations cause "bad" data is ignored in the quest for big numbers. The more I learn, the lazier I think people are. It's not the tech, it's poor understanding of the tech.

I was surprised how much space was dedicated to 2D-PAGE and that it supports the process of Integrated Top Down Proteomics as a way of characterising proteoforms without stating it.

The peptide with the variant is so low abundance it isn't detectable or give poor MSMS spectrum.

The variant isn't in the database so you don't find it cause the program doesn't know to look for it.

I prefer to normalise sample load before LC-MS/MS than rely on software to fix lazy sample preparation. I have a horrible feeling that a lot of single cell proteomics work is going to be proven wrong in a few years when we figure out how to normalise sample loads.
