We declare it to officially be Fall Day in Houston! Our morning low of 65° took us there, and although it won't last, we have a nice stretch of weather thru the weekend. More warm/humid weather to come before (maybe?) a stronger front. Matt has details: spacecityweather.com/space-city-w...

AI modeling in general has tended to outperform physical models on track the last couple years. I don't know the entire reasoning but there's something about it that just works with storms. I will be curious to see more cases of erratic tracks (think Dorian 2019 or Harvey 2017) though.

A measured, informative take on Isaias instead of the ALL CAPS IT'S HAPPENING crap I see from various corners of the broadcast met world. Plus, I really am interested to see how Rachel (and Simon) play out in the West. What a year.

Forget exactly but I know Michael was an October storm (cat 5). I forget if Milton was late September or October. It’s really not that uncommon.

Here we go again. Though unlikely to be a threat to Texas, this is worth watching from Louisiana through Florida.

These outages have been becoming more frequent. A long term fix is needed, and I assume in progress, as Alan states here. But there needs to also be a focus on near-term redundancy until the permafix is implemented. We are heading into what is likely to be a very busy winter. This is urgent.

Curious. Looks like either just a funky cloud that’s darker because of how thick it is or the sun angle. Or it could be some other very micro scale phenomenon I guess. Either way, it’s kinda cute!

There’s a lot to unpack here, not the least of which is that the benchmarks being measured against here aren’t that important? Oh good, “the market” beats the NBM on a high temperature forecast at day ahead, evening before, and morning of. Like…?

As always, I had some thoughts on how this storm was messaged, which I share here. But more importantly, folks in interior Texas (away from Houston) need to watch this forecast for rain very, very closely this week.
