Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 10/10/2026You nailed it. Everyone is polite because you're afraid of getting shot. It's the opposite of a free society. 060
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 10/10/2026What does that even mean? And what does the article say about his support for the Equality Act? 0130
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Because he's an irredeemable, morally bankrupt piece of shit. 010
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Great piece. I still think about Homonym! at least once a week. 2120
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 08/10/2026How did you find a photo of my car. This is an invasion of privacy. 0140
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 04/10/2026When I moved to California from Wisconsin, everybody described us as being from the "East Coast." I kept correcting them for a YEAR... until a friend calmly told me that, to Californians, any place east of Las Vegas is the East Coast. 010

Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Wow. It takes a "shocking" amount of moral courage to be against FREAKING ELECTRIC TORTURE GLOVES. 010
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Hey. I was in the process of deleting it before I saw a single reply. No need to be mean about it. You're both right, of course. 120
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 28/09/2026No shit. It's not that fucking hard. Sorry for the language. 000
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Just looked at the weather forecast. Counting down the days until Fake Fall! 010
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 25/09/2026If you aren't safely storing your gun, it should be taken from you. 000
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 24/09/2026I mean, considering most Texans, myself included, live in urban areas, pretty good. I don't see the issue. 001
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 23/09/2026I wonder how many airline pilots are Christian to the extent that they believe that they're destined for eternal paradise after death, thus removing a bit of incentive to keep the plane in the air. It's terrifying. 001
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Should help with demolition that this thing will be able to blow itself up. 011
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Hadn't our city outlawed both gas-powered leaf blowers AND plastic shopping bags at some point in the last decade? 001
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I work in this building. It's a comically ugly building with no real character. A perfect encapsulation of the era in which it was built. The only benefit to sharing it with the City would be the ability for me to not have to go off-site to express my contempt directly to City leadership. 041
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 17/09/2026When I look at the bottom left corner of a Trump video and see something more than like 20 seconds, I'm filled with anxiety. 010
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 15/09/2026These guys know they're likely to outlive Trump by a couple decades, right? Even rats know to jump off a sinking ship. 110

Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 11/09/202690% of the traffic congestion on Elm Street in the heart of Downtown Dallas is caused by delivery app drivers double parked in front of the Chick-fil-A. It would be maddening if I wasn't walking. 000

Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 11/09/2026One of my most lasting memories from (shortly after) 9/11 was our first literature class once they resumed (I was a college freshman). Professor said, first words out of his mouth, something very close to: "Well, we're living in a banana republic now. May not feel like it yet, but just wait." 000
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 11/09/2026That is most of what I remember from that day. The days after were filled with confusion, sorrow, patriotism (some genuine, more performative, much exploitative; all eventually exhausting to me), and fear. So much fear. 000
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 11/09/2026I remember getting a call through to him on his cell. I think I was one of the first people on my floor to get a cell call into New York. Said he saw most of it. Was clearly shaken up, though he said he was okay. I called my mom back and told her he was fine. 100
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Phone lines were overloaded, so I don't remember when I first talked to my mom. But she was happy to know I was okay. She was worried about my dad, who I had forgotten was in New York for work (he was with Verizon; it was a regular occurrence). 100
Matt L @mattl1.bsky.social · 11/09/2026I ran back to the dorm. At least there, people had TVs and internet and answers. And weed. So much weed. The rest of the day was kind of a blur. I got to know most of my neighbors, as we all congregated where there was television. There was only one channel that day: 9/11. 100
