In a bit of a reading slump. I've tried a few BIG titles with jackets quotes from BIG names pushed by BIG publishers and all of them left me cold 🙃 I like bleak, unending grimness; haunted people, urban decay, folklore and trauma. Please help! Eternally grateful for all recommendations!

Listen, don't become an author. Either you have permanent 'I should be doing my homework' feelings or you hate everyone and everything because you're not writing. For about five minutes every year you feel proud of yourself for finishing a book. Otherwise it's just constant emotional instability.

I think what makes it tough for people is that, like Marilyn Manson, these men were idols for some of us who were different. They represented triumph at the end of being constantly bullied for being our little alt. selves. Make no mistake though, these men let us all down and they can both rot.
