"Doctors, lawyers and engineers" is an international online Nazi trope. The "joke" is that non-White people are too stupid to be anything other than a criminal or someone who leeches social services. Read a Spanish newspaper about Ceuta, e.g., and you'll see "médicos y ingenieros" in the comments.

This is yet another telling example of the Trump regime’s racism. There’s no pretense here of targeting criminals - the usual excuse for mass deportations. DHS is specifically encouraging Haitian “doctors, lawyers, scholars and engineers” to leave. Any decent society would value these people.

I always hated these books, and for years I was quite loud about my dislike. Then Rowling uncloaked and betrayed trans readers. Suddenly, my dislike didn't matter one bit. If anything, insulting what they'd lost felt like an additional cruelty. That is arithmetic I refuse to do.
