I think there’s a personal preference/confidence in traffic thing there - I wouldn’t view passing a stopped bus by changing lanes as especially or unusually risky, any more than changing lanes when there are parked cars in the curb lane. Have a lot of years of cycling in traffic, though.

One of my more intense rounds of P90X was the only time in my life I could (briefly) do one-armed pushups. That will literally never happen again.

I have to say, as a cyclist I don't love floating bus stop arrangements. We have some in Winnipeg now and I wouldn't advocate for more. People waiting for the bus are often on their phones, headphones in, and not aware of their surroundings. As a cyclist I'd rather be in a full traffic lane.

My foster girls Sparky and Chief are going back to Winnipeg Humane Society tmrw and will be up for adoption! They’re super sweet, well-socialized kittens — Chief (black one) is especially snuggly + chatty. They really love each other so would be amazing for someone to take both, if you know anyone!

Being involved in running a church includes big principles and a ton of details. We hope the things we do support the values, the ethics, and the faith we try to live out together. This week’s unplanned task - purging music written by a composer credibly accused of sexual misconduct.

I’m always impressed with the efficiency of the seasonal vaccine clinic at the Shopper’s in Osborne Village. I was in and out in 5 minutes today while running a few errands over lunch. They have both flu and COVID vaccines on hand, and you can do them both in one visit. #Winnipeg

Good odds

Matthew Froese @matthewfroese.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
I’d guess the probability of a split here is pretty high, unless there’s a sufficiently charismatic leader ready to step in that isn’t immediately apparent

Matthew Froese @matthewfroese.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
I mean, sometimes leaving a gap for a time makes room for someone new. Take a season to rebuild? I think it’s fundamentally hard for contemporary conservative movements in Canada to navigate what their members want, though.

Matthew Froese @matthewfroese.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
I mean, the last leadership vote there was quite tight. Would definitely be a split in what the party membership is interested in, and one half of the party would be much further right than I think he is

Matthew Froese @matthewfroese.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

That anyone still had a bungalow that size in that part of downtown Toronto in 2026 is an absolute aberration. Was a cute house and yard though. Definitely the only one like it on the block. Should have taken the developers offer to compensate them for their impacts.
