Saw that Lisa Nandy is leaving X and the entitlement of one response is staggering. No one should be forced to remain on a platform as someone's punchbag and she's clearly doing the right thing, if later than ideal.
Screenshot of Lisa Nandy announcing her own departure and that of her department from X via Nitter. Someone responded with:

"Your job is here, either stay here or fucking RESIGN.”

And here's the reverse, complete with references to imaginary DEI policies

Reform sent this to me and my mum basically for no better reason than we are on the electoral role. We both voted Green at the last general election. Trying to think of a good way to respond. Possibly drawing a brown envelope containing five million quid in Farage's jacket pocket.

Just had this through the door and feels genuinely inspiring. The Reform ones went straight in the bin.

Cats are easy to buy Christmas presents for. They're happy with the box someone else's present came in.

Decided spontaneously that I couldn't face two weeks off work just at home so booked a last minute stay in an Airbnb by the seaside. Having a kitchen to myself made me more willing to experiment and made shakshouka. Not convinced the end result is great (egg is more boiled than poached) but OK

I have no abilities with image editing but ChatGPT did a decent enough job...

Trying to get Gemini and ChatGPT to generate something like "Where's Wally?" is hilarious. He's always front and centre. It's genuinely like the "Find Waldo Yet Again" gag in The Simpsons, like he's not even trying. Case in point...
Machine learning generated image of "Find Freddie" similar to "Where's Wally?". Freddie is a young man in a black and white striped jumper and a wooly hat and he is front and centre

Reminds me of this classic:

Linus decided I wasn't paying enough attention to him when I was putting my washing out to dry today. So he climbed up into the rotary clothes dryer...

Early this year, but too late to call it a New Year's Resolution, I realised I hadn't done any sort of art since leaving school 30 years ago, so I decided to learn to draw. Needed a hobby that didn't involve screens of some sort. This is the first drawing I'm not embarrassed to show anyone...

I find this a bit rich. Elton John is fair enough, but Simon Cowell has done more than anyone else I can think of to make music a commodity, and a licence to print money, and now he has the brass neck to complain about an LLM potentially eating his lunch.

I plan to use the term "Fox Cinematic Universe" at EVERY LAST OPPORTUNITY in future - www.salon.com/2025/01/29/i...
Text reads "Despite claiming to stand for "hardworking American families" — who are typically considered to be a different category of human beings than woke Marxist transgender green-dealers, at least within the Fox Cinematic Universe"

This person gets it...
Post from The Register in response to a claim that Bluesky is an echo chamber:

"Sounds like somebody wanted to yell at normal people like they used to do on Twitter and keeps getting blocked on Bluesky.

The idea of an "echo chamber" is weird rhetorical nonsense typically used by the worst possible people. If you're chatting with your friends in the pub and some rando none of you have ever met in your lives starts yelling at you all about how cows are a conspiracy you tell them to piss off. The fact that Bluesky allows you to do that (and to create lists of annoying people so you never have to see them in the first place) is one of the things that makes it a vast improvement over Twitter.

Every time somebody whinges about an echo chamber, you can guarantee they're the weird annoying guy who wants to shout over everybody's normal conversations about how cows are a conspiracy."

Where I grew up there's a regional dish called lardy cake. It's a type of tea bread, but literally has cake in the name. As such, it can be called either bread or cake. I think banana bread probably falls into the same grey area.
