I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge. That myth is more potent than history. That dreams are more powerful than facts. That hope always triumphs over experience. That laughter is the only cure for grief. And I believe that love is stronger than death. ― Robert Fulghum #quotes
Photo of a man sitting at a height looking out over a scenic landscape. Quote in inset from Robert Fulghum: I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge. That myth is more potent than history. That dreams are more powerful than facts. That hope always triumphs over experience. That laughter is the only cure for grief. And I believe that love is stronger than death

Poetry begins in failure — when language fails. The problem is that we still have to use words. - Lavinia Greenlaw, On Difficulty (and Poetry) www.thetimes.com/culture/book...

Index card with quote from Petronius Arbiter in 210 BCE. It reads: We trained hard—but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we were reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to
meet any new situation by reorganizing, and what a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while actually producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization.

Empathy and education change our views of the world.
Image of a middle-age man sitting in a low-lit study looking out of a window reflectively as it rains outside on the city streets with people covering themselves from the wet with umbrellas. The quote by Fyodor Dostoevsky in upper left quadrant on the window reads: Pain and suffering are always inevitable for a large intelligence and a deep heart.

The crescent Moon and crescent Venus emerging from behind it, yesterday
via EarthSky: Yesterday, some skywatchers had a chance to watch the #moon pass in front of #Venus in a tricky-to-observe daytime occultation. Gadi Eidelheit in Rehovot, Israel, captured this remarkable sight of the crescent Venus emerging from behind the crescent moon. Thank you, Gadi!

Not preachy but poetry

I visited the Emily Dickinson Museum today for the first time. Dickinson's poetry has always been an inspiration. Her gnomic lines and wry wit are unmistakable. I learned about her love for dogs, especially her long-time canine companion Carlo. As a dog person myself, I had to get this sticker.
