gunflint lake is more than six miles long and can be a beast when the wind is up. we encountered significant swells during our crossing, but the wind was going our way. even so, i was quite happy to land at its easternmost beach without any mishaps.

we had an awesome time crossing lac la croix - one of the largest lakes in the BWCA. perfect conditions and the water was glass. the border between ontario and minnesota runs down the middle of the lake. 📸: bpalton.bsky.social
