Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 14hWe might do something tomorrow. I feel it. (Well, I want it.) #lufc 240
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 23hThey are a PE fund. That's exactly what they do, and openly so. It's not a bad thing as long as our goals align. (And they sell us to someone good.) 000
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Hard agree! Also one of very few films that gets newspaper journalism right. It's not what you know, you write what you can get two people to confirm on the record, which is where journalists do their real work. (Or at least that is how it used to be!) 010
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Come home DCL lad. Don't let them waste your time. #lufc 150
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 05/10/2026You don't get Jim Trafford doing this. (Although, to be fair, Pickford probably can't comfortably reach the steering wheel.) #lufc www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...bbc.co.ukEngland's Jordan Pickford 'almost caused crash' with careless drivingThe goalkeeper was pulled over by police after ignoring a give way sign, forcing two cars to brake. 130
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 03/10/2026What an achievement. Leicester winning the Premier League is the closest comparison, but Wakey have done it organically with half the team that got them promoted two years ago. In a competition that until 12 months ago had only ever been won by Wigan, Saints, Leeds, and Bradford. #lufc 040
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Wakefield winning the Grand Final. Just class. What an incredible sporting achievement. #lufc 040
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 01/10/2026As in: "It wasn't us. It was the government of Abu Dhabi. Which is a different organization despite being the same people." It just shows the hubris of the mega rich. Their defence is admitting the crime, with minor nuance. 130
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Forgive me: what does a quality peacock set you back these days? (For context: a decent Shetland Pony is around £4k but you need to get two for loneliness reasons.) 110
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I heard they are going to make them rehire Brian Horton, sign and play Ronaldo, and adopt the Neville brothers as former players. 000
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Ha ha. Resonates. Same era: I remember taking a radio outside so I didn't miss the hourly Radio Leeds bulletins when we were signing Strachan, even as I kicked a ball against the garage door. 000
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Yeah. It was like: if this is all the Europe we are getting, let's have it. 121
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I had the run of the South Stand lower (the family stand in those days) beneath the Stuttgart fans who were excellent value. Swapped scarves with a couple of likely lads. Literally bumped into Rod Wallace outside. We left euphoric despite the result. 140
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Bloody annoying that I can't watch the #49ers on DAZN because it's 'on Sky'. Despite paying for GamePass, and Sky deciding to stay with the Steelers game. Just great to pay twice and not get the thing you pay for. #nfl 000
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 26/09/2026What's the point of playing him if you faff around passing it sideways? Get it in the box. 210
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 26/09/2026These fancy England lads don't get it. WANG IT IN THE MIXER FOR DCL. #lufc 1150
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Stunning from Wakefield. Just great sport. Outstanding. #superleague 000
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 26/09/2026"We go live to the Pickford household." #lufcstatic.klipy.comGIFALT: GIF 040
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Trafford starting, eh? Can I shock you? I love international football. #lufc 150
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 25/09/2026"Welcome to the Red Triangle league. Get yer hair cut." 010
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Ah. Yes. Didn't think it through. Hope Erling enjoys playing for Woodhouse Moor Antelopes FC. 110
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 25/09/2026I hope you are right! I am just super cynical about the authorities biting the hand that feeds them. The Chelsea punishment was a joke. But I do agree: to have any credibility the punishment has to be real. Football is more money than sport at this point. Apart from us. The good guys. 010
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 25/09/2026The only fair punishment is that their players have to sign on a free for the club nearest the hospital in which they were born. #lufc 2395
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 25/09/2026They will get a slap on the wrist of course. But you can throw all those medals in the bin lads. Won by cheating. #lufc 230
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 25/09/2026MANCHESTER CITY? THE SOFT POWER PLAYTHING OF AN AUTOCRATIC PETRODOLLAR STATE? CHEATING..? I simply will not believe it. No sir. This was surely just a simple accounting error as part of a great sporting effort. Just 115 errors over many years. #lufc 030
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Also one of my best friends now is a Hull fan and was in the Kop that day with his old man. Probably about 10 yards from me from his description. We met 10 years later... 010
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 25/09/2026What a game. Seven goals and I reckon five of them world beaters. Funny how the brain works: I vividly remember that I didn't do my French homework that weekend and got detention. Basically because I felt untouchable after the winner. 🤣🤣🤣 130
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Strachan's winner against Leicester in 90. Just ahead of his winner against Hull same season. The occasion, what it meant, the strike. Me, a nearly 50-year-old man, welling up thinking about it. #lufc 240
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 24/09/2026My Indian colleagues looking at that photo: "Only five? Hold my beer." 140
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 24/09/2026In fairness, he was responding to being asked if he still believes it is unfair that men's football is treated differently to all other sport. It wasn't a policy suggestion, certainly no suggestion that booze in the stands is a right for all supporters. 100
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 24/09/2026That, in essence, is my point. The inconsistency is wrong, but we don't need pints in the stand. As has been pointed out elsewhere, it's not even a policy and clubs could still decide not to allow booze in certain stands even if it was (as cricket and rugby do now). 110
Matt Egan @mattegan.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Indeed. It's not even a policy. Something he said when not PM. Was pressed on it this week because the reporter wanted to 'catch him out', and he just said he still feels that way. 'Man having reasonable opinion' isn't much of a story so it is being reported as if he is demanding pints for all. 020
