This is a creative way to promote your work: selling the rights of some of your stories for $1. Think of adaptations like collabs: they promote both your work and the work of other people.

If anything, see it because it's fun and it's emotional without being too emotional. Its a fun time at the movies with a friend...and maybe even a great piece of nostalgic filmmaking for anyone who remembers the 90s and early 2000s.

On top of that, the art direction, character designs, camera angles and the integration of 90s aesthetics and maybe even traditional Filipino art via Filipino mythology is no question 10/10. It total takes advantage of the fact it's an animated film.

The pacing was amazing, close to Mad Max, (although I wish the film gave its characters time to breathe and develop more), the whole film was at least a gag/joke a minute, the characters themselves were charming...yeah, it's better than even K pop Demon hunters.

Just saw Forgotten Island last night and it's easily my favorite film of 2026, which I was expecting it to be. You all gotta see it. It's really struggling at the box office. #Forgottenisland #Dreamworks #animation #animationbluesky

Interestingly, these UFO abductions also strongly parallel satanic ritual abuse and pagan human sacrifice...although sometimes humans survive alien abductions. I'm not sure why THIS type of irl, supernatural experience (UFO abductions) isn't written about more.

The funny thing is, a lot of the supernatural irl is like this and isn't like this. UFO abductions don't feature monsters eating us, but rather taking our blood like various vampire myths around the world.

where the afterlife is basically being fed to a being known as "the mother of the null" in his 65th novel "Revival". We have a being who supposed be very inhuman having a very human desire: feeding. It doesn't really work.

...of being eaten, or at least being intentionally killed. If you look into a lot of weird fiction, this is either allegorical or implied. Take for example this one portion from a Stephen King work:

One thing that ruined a lot of weird fiction for me (in a good way) is how Isaac Arthur of all people (the futurology guy on YT) pointed out a lot of eldritch abominations seem to all be based off of the primal fear...

Hey look, that crappy furry writer you follow can make even crappier furry drawings of the characters from his crappy novel entering its 4th crappy first draft. Bury me shallow so the vultures don’t have too much to complain about.

Oh man, oh God, oh man. It’s supposed to be a golden retriever and a norder collie from my biopunk novel. It isn’t good.

Many good stories are the same at the core, and seem to have been refined as certain cultures Christianized. I personally don't feel that things are much more mystical than that, but I still feel like studying myth in this way can be helpful to creators!

Some stories, in fact, envoke these mythological archetypes purposefully. They aren't the be all end all on what makes a story good, but stories with these archetypes can be quite popular.

Sometimes some stories parallel common folk tales just because certain tropes must come in certain sequences to make sense. It's not more cosmic than that, it's just a string of coincidences as dictated by realistic writing.

This is how such conservative Jews and Christians explain why there are so many flood myths. Because they're all ultimately based off of the true account found in the Old Testament. The others are corruptions.

Another theory popular with Christians and Jews who take the Old Testament as literal historical fact take the perspective that, since humanity was united before the tower of babel, a lot of these common folks fables originated before the confusing of languages.

...there's a spiritual collective mind that humans have tapped into over the centuries that we have been aware of to greater and lesser degrees. This kind of theory is popular with new age types and people like Jordan Peterson.

What explains this? Well, there are several theories people give. One minority view that (I think) used to be more popular is called the collective unconscious theory. It was originated by Carl Jung. It speculates that...

There's actually an index that categorizes similar ancient stories together. So it's not just you. It's called the Aarne–Thompson–Uther Index. It's quite the thing to search through.

There's a subtle, realistic way to do this, of course. I brought up Primer before as a great example of well done dialogue as well as pacing and editing that makes the dialogue even more realistic.

Because of "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks" one fairly simple way to write dialogue is to have a character bring up certain subjects fairly often or even go off topic in the middle of a conversation to bring up what's on their mind.
