Great article! I’ve written about this topic as well in a few articles but more on how they operate for architects and designers as sketches, despite appearing like renderings which usually are generated toward the end of the design process.

Opening today! I’m honored to have helped my friend Ron Rael on his “Adobe Oasis” installation at for the DesertX art festival in Palm Springs, California. The adobe mud walls were 3D printed using a mobile robot powered by solar panels provided by SolarPunks!

For about 15 years now, 99% of what I need to do can be done without the script components or anemone. I see most of my work in GH as sketching: idea exploration. Once the idea is worked out comes the slow, plodding work of optimization and debugging.

This fall is a major milestone for my career. In the fall of 2004, I started my design practice, Matsys. I was submitting my graduate dissertation for awards and didn’t want to use my name on the award submission. I originally used Material Systems Organization but, with time, it’s now Matsys.
