Modern Math Workshop - October 29, 2026 in Long Beach, California. The Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute (SLMath) will host the 2026 Modern Math Workshop (MMW) as part of the SACNAS Annual Conference. The MMW encourages undergraduates to pursue careers in the mathematical sciences, and builds research and networking opportunities among undergraduates, graduate students and recent PhDs. The workshop begins at noon on Thursday, October 29 with a "Conversations with the Scientists" lunch. Representatives from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) mathematics institutes will attend. Following lunch there will be two mini-courses aimed at undergraduates, and research sessions aimed at graduate students and recent PhDs. A reception will be held in the evening, open to all participants. 

Audience: Undergraduates, graduate students, and recent PhDs attending the SACNAS Annual Conference.

Registration: Registration is open through the day of the event. Register via SLMath’s website.

Funding: You must register by July 3, 2026 to apply for funding. Successful applicants will be provided with up to four nights of lodging (double-occupancy) and reimbursement of the SACNAS registration fee. Travel funds may be available.
