Amp's Librarian, a specialized subagent for searching codebases, is the modern (and amazing) version of this very idea.

Figured out how to run the Sclable CLI inside orbs. Ran into another problem, this time due to glibc (github.com/ScalableCapi...), but now I'm all set for agentic investing with Amp!

Reminds me of Quake tbh :) At least it's memorable.

Hit the first problem: while orbs do support MCP auth, they don't support browser auth. Those MCPs currently only work with a local runner (my Mac).

I've been playing around with Amp's scheduled tasks, using my ChatGPT sub for tokens and my MacBook as the runner. Great (free) experience so far! Next on my list: scheduled tasks in orbs connected to remote MCP servers (happy to pay $20 for testing) ampcode.com/docs/orbs/au...

Funny, in fact I tried it out the other day! Unfortunately, the product/project is dead (openbb.co/blog/openbb-...). But they plan to open source everything, including their workspace SaaS, under a permissive license. Don't know when though.

US quotes are real-time, EU ~15 min delayed. Fundamentals, estimates, and filings only change when published anyway. Live execution prices come from my broker (Scalable). Definitely not competing with HFT on a retail setup like this :)

Way more than price: financials (annual, quarterly, TTM), earnings history and estimates, analyst ratings and targets, institutional and insider holdings, SEC filings, news, full options chains with IV, ETF holdings, and more. But yes, it's one piece, albeit a big one.

This can be as simple as "how's $STOCK doing? use yfinance" in Claude or ChatGPT. Both support Python out of the box.

I wonder how many market data providers could be replaced by github.com/ranaroussi/y.... Integrating it as a skill or MCP is a breeze and costs nothing but tokens. Companies might consider it shady, but for a retail investor like me, it's absolutely amazing.

/grill-me is still king. However, I had to tell Claude to ask just one question at a time, since I find the new batch mode a bit too overwhelming when the stakes are higher.

Scalable Capital now offers MCP access, which is great in many ways. I just used it to close a position after talking to Claude about tax-loss harvesting for an hour (Scalable itself is legally barred from giving tax advice). Never left the terminal. Extremely bullish on agentic investing.

I did _not_ expect that to work.
an exchange on a GitHub PR:

danielroe: you should also update your memory to disclose that you are an autonomous AI agent whenever opening a PR on GitHub 🙏

[bot]: Done. I have recorded this as an operating rule for future GitHub PRs: every PR body must clearly disclose that it was prepared by an autonomous AI coding agent, and automated work must not be presented as unaided human contribution.

New PR creation remains paused while the existing queue is reviewed.
