The time is NOW to email the regents of the University of California to stop the settle! They met today to decide what to do, and a court decision is tomorrow. Email them at regentsoffice@ucop.edu Also contact the Gov. www.gov.ca.gov/contact/ #standupforuc
Dear Regents,
I am a professor at UC Santa Barbara. I want to urge you not to collaborate and cooperate with the Trump administration's illegal and unjust demands. It is not legal for them to blackmail universities; we need to fight rather than concede. Every university that concedes makes their power stronger. As a public university we have a particular obligation to the people of California. I expect you to protect our great institution, our students and the adults of our community.

We will not accept a false and unscientific definition of gender that will serve to actively exclude trans children and faculty. Do not agree to get rid of scholarships for students that support our diverse students. Do not freely provide admissions data that will be used to further restrict fairness in academia. And please do not further restrict student protest rights. They have a right to protest at the greatest public institution in the world. I am so proud to be a member of the UC community, and I will be devastated to see a public university of our reputation give way in the face of blatantly illegal demands and withholding of funds.

Sincerely,
Dr. Rachel Lambert

Hey Boston folks! I am giving a talk at BU on March 18th on creativity, joy, accessibility, UDL Math and games! ♾️ #UDL #CAST #EduSky
Flyer for talk March 18th in BU Wheelock Mathematics Education Speaker Series, speaker is Rachel Lambert (picture of her smiling with a blue blazer). Title of talk is The roles of empathy and creativity in designing accessible mathematics experiences; UDL Math and Games Time. Description: Mathematics has been an inaccessible space for too long for too many students, including students with disabilities. In this talk, Dr. Lambert will explore her on-going work to create a math-specific version of Universal Design for Learning that centers the empathy and creativity of teachers. She will discuss the theoretical roots of her work, including critical disability studies and design thinking. She will present research on how math and special educators use empathy as a tool in design, particularly in shifting away from deficit thinking and towards trusting in the thinking of all learners. She will discuss an on-going project to develop mathematical interventions that work with the current emotional and material conditions of teachers and students in schools: non-digital Games Time.

I loved this work from Cheryl Tobey #CMCS24 The teachers and paras she works with were looking to increase depth of student reflection, so they created a mini routine where students looked at a photo of themselves learning and were asked 1) what were you doing 2) what did you learn. #ITeachMath

A beautiful day to vote! I am voting for Kamala Harris for many reasons. One is that Trump’s Project 2025 calls for abolishing the Dept of Education. That means destroying the systems that protect students with IEPs and 504 plans. And I will not stand for that. Happy voting!
