It has been a wild month already, I started a new job, we got a new car (EV) and sold our old one (my first bought and paid off, but also gas guzzler), and the lil one started a new school. New things all around!

Well it's official, today was my last day as the Web Accessibility Lead at ITHAKA. It's all so bittersweet, I learned a lot being the lone accessibility person within an org, both about myself and this profession. I'm very much looking forward to my next thing, but for now gonna enjoy my time off.

Getting to the "wow, I never knew that" or "I never would have guessed" that then (hopefully) will sit with them for a while and the next time they work on a new feature or sketch out a new idea, they remember the full set of lived experiences, not just their "typical" users.

My favorite part was when people started commenting that all they were seeing of the presentation was a black screen, I had been sharing a black slide, simulating the screen curtain, and other folks who were in the know responded with, yeah that's the point.

During today's all-staff I gave a demo of what it might be like for someone to use a screen reader while navigating our product's website. For some, this was the first time experiencing assistive technology in this way, and the org's president admitted that it "blew his mind".

If I were a congressional legislator, or aspiring to be one, I would simply tell voters each day that Trump has raised the cost of gas, food, housing by serious margins just by daily blunder. And I would tie anyone refusing to check his power as party to those blunders. List the numbers, name names.
