Oof, this stings. It really irks me that a for-profit company’s CLI like npm should come bundled in with Node. Corepack felt like a step in the right direction to promote others that have been pushing the ecosystem forward.

One surprising insight I came across while speaking to letters is that the job is mostly contract work with freelancers. One of if not the only full-time paying letterer job in the U.S. with benefits is at Fakku. Yes, that Fakku. I spoke with founder @largehotcoffee.com about it.

Jacob Grady: "The manga industry is notorious for contractor-only work; it's pretty cutthroat. Right from when we started publishing manga 10 years ago, I had a goal to improve the industry and make this a real career for people," Fakku founder Jacob Grady told io9.
He continued: "All of our typesetters are full-time salaried employees, with health insurance/vision/dental all 100% paid by the company with a 401k retirement plan. The goal is really to make this a long-term career for people, and provide job stability for our employees.

Shoutouts to Ghostty for including a Nerd Font as a fallback for when users don't configure one! Issues with Starship glyph rendering are a total non-issue 🙌
