Yes we do Andy. Also a month later and those totally real references you claimed backed you up never materialised You never provided anything more than the screenshot with a handful of anecdotes FYI: Standard grading: Cohort studies of trans people > Random case reports. bsky.app/profile/bata...

"Insults are the arguments employed by those who are in the wrong." Kinda telling that when a paper about biology gets linked, your only rebuttal is to just insult me & the authors. And then you pretend I'm in bad faith, lol.

Can you actually explain this "class definition" ? without resorting to teleology ? It seems dishonest to just call "bad faith" anyone pointing out that what little you write doesn't work. Or are you Humpty Dumpty "it means just what I choose it to mean" ?

It's an example of teleology which is quite controversial to use in biology Many argue that it should be avoided since it implies retrocausation. doi.org/10.1590/S010...

You think most cancer treatments should not be used because they don't make people live as long as people without cancer ?
110
boxwave 🐀 @maskhate.bsky.social · 04/08/2026
One of my arguments is that we should use treatments with evidence even if it's ranked "poor" when the system to class as "poor" is flawed & doesn't physically allow for better ratings. The secondary point was to highlight that only one such treatment is being hyperfocused on.

"All female placental mammals", such as humans (but probably not men such as yourself Andy), don't have vaginas. Or do you think vaginal agenesis means the person is a man ? I don't think it is a fact.

I'm pretty certain Alyssa is pointing out that one of the common claims against intervention is misdiagnosis.

boxwave 🐀 @maskhate.bsky.social · 04/08/2026
Yes Atho some claims against it, use the wrong control group eg comparing trans vs general population instead of trans & intervention vs trans no intervention If that same criteria were applied to cancer, most cancer treatments would have to be banned since mortality is still higher than gen pop

It's not just a few others, it's most. Even looking just at prescriptions specifically, 1/3 "off label". pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC... Yes, interventions such as "rotationplasty" because "double blinding" will never be possible the grading is flawed doi.org/10.1096/fj.1...

There is evidence that evidence-based medicine recommandations are not being followed. e.g. doi.org/10.1177/1077... doi.org/10.1136/thx.... doi.org/10.3171/2013... So it does not follow that they have been abandoned in practise just because they are no longer recommended

Important context: Using that definition of "quality" but applying it to all areas of medicine leads to the conclusion that most evidence is "low quality" High quality studies are very expensive to do & rare. It's far from exclusive to the field. bsky.app/profile/mask...

I could claim the same about you. You've tried to pretend that a memoir by a part time actor www.imdb.com/name/nm88665... & facebook post by a part time fashion desginer/ are "academic" works There are actual scholars (philosophers etc) who have written on the topic

I don't think anyone has claimed that they are the best thinkers ? Alok is a "comedian, performance artist, & media personality" Jacob is an "activist, producer, television host, & actor". They're not academic philophers etc I fail to see how an FB post that kids can sometimes be gay is misogyny

Depends on whether you believe that "truth" is relative or absolute. If truth can be relative then mostly true. If truth is absolute then always false. Also if your second statement was meant to only sometimes be true, is your first also only sometime true ?

If it was immaterial why did you bring up mammals ? "Woemn are female. Female mammals have vaginas. These are facts" No one had brought up mammals before in the thread but you were insistent on it as a fact. I don't disagree with the first (it is circular) but do with the second.

Several of these quotes are heavily spliced The Alok one in particular has heavily truncated sentences "little girls are complicated people. There are no fairy tales & no princesses here. Little girls are trans, queer, kinky, devious, kind, mean, beautiful, ugly, tremendous & peculiar."

Sadly not. That is part of the reason why companies like Sony are trying to force digital only media. There is often no legal secondhand market. So you have to buy new direct from the original company. Whereas in some jurisdictions the right to re-sell your physical books is protected.

"Female mammals have vaginas." No, there are species of mammals that don't. Monotremes such as the platypus have cloacas like birds, they don't have vaginas. Ur binary view is anthropocentric. The word monotreme itself derives from the Greek μονός (monós 'single') & τρῆμα (trêma 'hole')
Four of the five extant monotreme species: platypus (top-left), short-beaked echidna (top-right), western long-beaked echidna (bottom-left), and replica eastern long-beaked echidna (bottom-right).

Yes and I will add that. Liddle himself was not "kind" when people died. When Nelson Mandela and others died for example Ron Liddle was not at all courteous, he was mocking. "Live by the sword die by the sword." People are treating Liddle the way he treated others.

Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.

All this is super duper extra weird because all of these people are very comfortable with the idea that there is no single universal definition of “species,” that in fact there are hundreds and which is most relevant is highly study-dependent

RE: the transphobic gamete nonsense Academic publishing is not suffering from a dearth of problems but from a metascientific POV, we need more research into the harms caused by academic opinion pieces that cosplay as research and are used to Trojan horse baseless ramblings into academic discourse.
