Revitalization is great, investment is needed, more housing is a must, BUT it cannot come at the expense of displacing Black residents I'd add a Right of First Refusal to this: If a resident is going to be displaced, they get first dibs on a new unit in the neighborhood. Subsidized if need be.

Seeing this post just as I'm reading this book, which talks about precisely this question in a lot of depth. Lots of direct quotes from formerly enslaved people. Some are from Congressional testimony during Reconstruction, others from interviews conducted by WPA decades later when they were seniors.

Case/point. These are the first few comments on NBC News YT clip posted in past 30min. Wouldn't be surprised to see these get upvoted, which will then be first comments seen by ppl in the future as well. And b/c YT long ago got rid of dislikes, disliking them does little NBC could disable comments.

It's not enough to elect Dems to slim majorities b/c that ends up giving a small number of third-way/centrists (Manchin, Sinema, Fetterman, etc...) too much leverage to gum up the works If you want lasting change, vote for leftists in primaries, then Dems in overwhelming numbers in every general.

The Interdependency series by @scalzi.com You could definitely finish the first book on vacation, and that'll hook you to continue the series. Adventurous, mysterious, sci-fi, fast-paced, fun. Just all-in-all a really satisfying read.
