Lovely to hear from Holly T Burrows at The Cartoon Museum that my scribbly picture of the place has been turned into a postcard and a fridge magnet and they've been selling well. Might even get royalties. Well worth a visit to the shop, a lot of treasure there unavailable anywhere else.

We're told that China and the US are in a kind of arms race to create the first real self aware AI, and that whoever gets there first will have some massive advantage, but if either of them realise this goal, would the resulting entity actually consider itself 'American' or 'Chinese'? Why?

It's the Markfield Road Festival again, a neat little burst of art and music and beer and all that happening over this weekend near me. Highly recommend walking around the Gaunson House studios open house. So many great painters and printmakers and such to walk around with a glass of wine or three.

Had a dream in which there was an advert for a toy robot, of the classic Japanese walking robot kind, but a major selling point of this one was that it featured transparent plastic legs that you could fill with live maggots. In the advert in the dream everyone was very enthusiastic about this.
