Yet another reason why broadening to a more casual audience is VITAL to competitive community health. Most recent $1mil Capcom Cup champion was a retired Fortnite/Valo streamer. So many sponsored SF6 pro players that are variety streamers or retired competitive players from other genres.

No one said anything, but I often get the feeling that when people say "We need more Y in the Splatoon scene" They don't mean "We should support the smaller members of this community that are proficient in Y" And instead mean "We need a major member known for X to start doing Y instead"

Something I learned from the AZ Melee scene while I was in it was the value of keeping disputes as private as they possibly could be. If you had a problem with someone, you DMed that person and only that person about it and gave them an honest chance to discuss it with you and make corrections [1/6]

By far the most refreshing thing I remember playing JP tourneys in S2 was just how seriously they took being on-time. Rules called you a "war criminal" if you did not join a lobby within one minute of it being made 😭 The disrespect towards others' time is a huge reason I don't play many tourneys

Brella discourse I see all just feels a little silly theres like a mix of people seeing brella as a super paint bot or that it should do nothing but wkey and can fight like it has 90 damage. I think there's just an insane gap in understanding of how the weapon functions under a new identity.

My only big hope for next patch is that its buff focused, no main sub or special is OP right now, Pen is the closest thing that could use a small nerf but even then I think other cooler options could be buffed instead. Game itself is great right now and just needs to be added to.

The update to S3 speaks to the belief that Nintendo has in this franchise. It’s not a Star Fox series that was left behind. It’s not a Pikman franchise that gets no DLC/future updates. It’s also not Pokemon, where they rush game to game. I hope people see how important Splatoon is to Nintendo.

Suddenly top level has tournaments, this summer alone has 2 quals for SWC, superjump 5, SWC so far. I thought sq s7 might be the most stacked event in a while but that might just be the start of a new era if we can get some more groups forming. The events are here teams need to be too.
