Yes, baboons, it's time to send us your recorded thoughts about AT THE CIRCUS! Do you dislike it because it's one of the Brothers' worst films? Or do you like it despite the fact that it's one of the Brothers' worst films? See Bob's instructions below, and send us your recordings by November 13!
Screenshot of Bob Gassel's post in the Marx Brothers Council FB group:

First call for audio or video submissions for our upcoming (November) At the Circus re-dive. We want your opinions, nitpicks, defenses, complaints and hot takes. If you’ve never sent a comment before, this would be a great time.

And now, the laws of our administration...

-Please aim for under three minutes. If you need a little more time, that’s fine, but try to keep things focused.

-Unless it directly relates to your thoughts on At the Circus, please save the story of how you discovered the Marxes. We’ll devote a future episode entirely to Marx origin stories.

-And rather than simply listing your favorite bits—most of us probably have the same ones—give us something we can sink our teeth into. Make a case, challenge the conventional wisdom, or point out something we may have overlooked.

-As always, submissions may be edited for clarity, pacing and to avoid repetition.

Deadline: Friday, November 13, 2026

The spectacular new ANIMAL CRACKERS IN 3D, now available from our friends at Eyepop, features an all-new, full-length commentary track by Matthew, Bob, and Noah of The Marx Brothers Council Podcast. It's the perfect combination: a three-dimensional film discussed by one-dimensional people!

Is it that time already?! Send us your recorded comments about ROOM SERVICE (1938), for an upcoming MBCP episode in which we revisit the film and respond to listeners' comments. All details below, in the commanding voice of Bob Gassel. We want to hear from you -- but don't say "Jumping butterballs!"
A screen shot of a post shared by Bob Gassel in the Marx Brothers Council group on Facebook. The text says:

"An early call for submissions to our August Room Service re-dive. We want your opinions, nitpicks and hot takes. If it's connected to Room Service, we're interested.

"As we move into the back half of the Brothers' filmography, we know enthusiasm can be harder to muster—but we encourage you to look for what works as well as what doesn't. And yes, we're fully expecting to hear that the original play wasn't written for the Marxes. That's certainly part of the conversation, but we'd love for you to dig deeper than that well-worn observation.

"If you've never submitted a comment before, this is a great episode to jump in.

"As always, a few guidelines:

"1. Aim for under three minutes. If you need a little more time, that's fine—but try and be concise.

"2. Unless it directly supports your point about Room Service, please skip the story of how you first discovered the Marx Brothers. We promise we'll devote a future episode entirely to everyone's Marx origin stories.

"3. Try not to simply list your favorite bits. Most of us have the same ones, and it doesn't give us much to discuss.

"As always, we may edit submissions for clarity, pacing, and to avoid repetition. Audio or video submissions are welcome.

"Deadline: Friday, August 21, 2026

The call is out for listener comments on A DAY AT THE RACES for our revisitation of that somewhat beloved film! Note these guidelines from Bob, and submit your comments via email by May 22 to be part of this riveting discussion of the team some MGM publicity hack once called "America's Joy Friends!"
A screenshot of a Facebook post by Bob Gassel, with the text reading:

Calling for audio submissions to our upcoming A Day at the Races re-dive. We want your takes, nitpicks, and rants on one of the more divisive Marx films. Any opinions or personal experiences with the film are fair game.

Once again, we encourage those who’ve never submitted a comment to jump in. There are too many great voices in the threads we’ve yet to hear from. Don't be shy.

As always, note our guidelines:

1) Try to keep submissions to under three minutes. If you need a bit more time to make your point, that’s fine—but aim to keep it concise.

2) Unless it directly connects to your point about the film, please skip prefacing your comments with how you discovered the Marxes. We’ll dedicate a future episode to your Marx origin tales.

3) Finally, try not to just list your favorite gags and scenes. They're pretty much the same for everyone, and don't give us much to respond to.
Be aware that we may edit your comments for clarity, pacing, and to avoid repetition. Any audio (or video format) is fine. The deadline is Friday, May 22, 2026.

There's still time to send us your recorded comments about A NIGHT AT THE OPERA for inclusion in our January episode. See the screenshot for Bob's notes and guidelines. The deadline for submissions is Friday, January 23. Please, join the conversation -- because it's coming apart!
A screenshot of a Facebook post in the Marx Brothers Council group, posted by Bob Gassel. The text reads:

"It's that time! Now calling for submissions to our upcoming A Night at the Opera re-dive. We want your thoughts, nitpicks, and rants. How does it compare to the films that came before...or after? Did Thalberg save their career at the expense of their legacy? Any opinions or personal experiences with the film are fair game.

"Just note our guidelines..

"1) Please try and keep submissions under three minutes. If you need a bit of extra time to make your point, that’s fine—but aim to keep it concise.

"2) Unless it directly connects to your point about the film, please skip prefacing your comments with how you discovered the Marxes. We’ll dedicate a future episode to your Marx origin tales.

ATTENTION, PEOPLE OF FREEDONIA! You still have two days to submit your recorded comments about DUCK SOUP for inclusion in our next episode. Ride like fury! If you run out of gas, get ethyl; if Ethel runs out, get Mabel! Here's Bob Gassel with all the details.
Calling for audio submissions to our upcoming Duck Soup re-dive. We want to hear your thoughts, nitpicks, and rants. Where does it rank for you among the brothers' films? Anything related to the movie is fair game.

However, due to the number and length of submissions we've been getting recently, we need to tweak the guidelines a bit...

1) Please try and keep submissions to under three minutes. If you need extra time to make your point, that’s fine—but aim to keep it concise.

2) We also ask that, unless it directly connects to your point about the film, please skip the preamble about how you first discovered the Marxes. Those stories are great, but they eat up too much time. Don’t worry—we’ll dedicate a future episode just to your Marx origin tales.

3) Finally, try not to just list your favorite bits and scenes...they're pretty much the same for everyone and don't give us anything to respond to.
As always, be aware that clips may be edited for clarity and to avoid repetition. You can send any audio or video format. The deadline is Friday, October 17, 2025. Please email all clips and links to:

Just posted in the Marx Brothers Council group on Facebook...
The image is a screen shot of a post from the Marx Brothers Council group on Facebook. In this post, accompanied by a photo of the elderly Groucho performing on stage, Matthew Coniam writes: "We've just recorded podcast 82 with a very special guest indeed, recalling their memories of Groucho at length for the first time. All I'm saying is: it's not a member of the Marx family... and you're going to love it."
