I recommend returning your marked ballot in a local dropbox rather than via USPS if your jurisdiction has those option. (This requires that you be present in your home area; dropboxes from other counties won’t generally ensure you ballot will be received and counted).

As an Open Source person I am apparently expected to keep doing things for free so I get invited to participate in EU policy events in Brussels, with not even an attempt to offer me compensation for travel, lodging or time. So I decline.

so consistently, for so long, that | have basically no idea what the average person's experience of the internet is like.

Every now and then | use someone else's device that isn't so locked down. And I'm floored by how useless and annoying the internet is. IDK how people do this.

Millions of people look up to Steve Jobs and Bill Gates.
My role model is Daniel Stenberg. You've never heard of him.
His code runs on 10 billion devices, including the one you're reading this post on.

He started building cURL in 1996. It handles data transfer on nearly every phone, console, smart TV, 47 car brands, and it was on the Mars helicopter.

He's also the person who's kept it going for nearly 30 years.

Simplifying Vulkan One Subsystem at a Time
In this blog, Vulkan Strategy Officer, Tobias Hector, explains the recent release of the VK_EXT_descriptor_heap extension. This extension is the first concrete attempt at totally replacing the existing descriptor set subsystem in Vulkan. While it’s shipping as an EXT for now, it’s on a path to becoming future core functionality. The Vulkan Working Group attempted to fix the descriptor model with VK_EXT_descriptor_buffer, which developers have had some success with, but we used incremental (if large!) improvements to the existing descriptor set functionality, making it necessary to check for a variety of descriptor set extensions. This incremental approach also didn’t attract wide industry backing, resulting in cross-vendor portability issues. So, we took the lessons learned from VK_EXT_descriptor_buffer, and designed a completely new subsystem.
