🚀 AIUP Navigator 0.6.0 for IntelliJ is out: new "AIUP Diagram" tool window renders a live PlantUML activity diagram of the UC-*.md spec you're editing — main scenario + alternative flows, updated as you type. In-process rendering, no Graphviz, no external service. #IntelliJ #PlantUML

AI tools for developers are useful. But they are not enough. If AI is getting better and better at programming, why are we focusing almost all innovation on coding tools? Read more here: martinelli.ch/ai-tools-for-developers-are-not-enough/

While it looks impressive and being in the top 1%, especially considering this is only the code I publish on GitHub, not the code I write for my clients, I have to admit I have a colleague. His name is Claude 😉

I like to explain the difference between vibecoding and spec-driven development with a cooking analogy. Cooking is vibecoding. You start with an idea, try things out, taste, and adjust. Baking is spec-driven development. You define everything upfront: ingredients, quantities, order, timing.

Simon Martinelli @martinelli.ch · 16/12/2025

I believe that with AI agents, separated frontend and backend development is slowly coming to an end. One language, one model, one flow. Less coordination, less friction, more focus on business logic. AI does not just change how we write code. It changes how we should structure our systems.

20 years ago, we moved from client/server applications to web applications. 10 years ago, we moved from web applications to single-page applications (SPAs). What many still don’t realize: SPAs are client/server applications again. Technology changes - the architecture patterns repeat.

Even in the age of AI, Java is ready. This book was published 20 years ago for Java's 10th anniversary. It's time for a new one

It's still a lot of work to make it correct. Currently, I'm working on tracability from use case to E2E tests. I want to add IDE support for that soon.
