Set in Kaung Pi, a world drawn from Himalayan and Southeast Asian myth rather than the usual pseudo-Europe. You play Ahu, a young Warden of the Path, on her first patrol through a land of high passes, old spirits, and winters that swallow whole caravans.

One painterly headshot is open 🤗 email and links are in bio!

Painterly portrait of a young androgynous Kender looking tired and lost in thought. They have a scrappy brown pixie cut, fair skin and bright, icy blue eyes ringed with dark circles. A scar marks their right cheek, and part of the ear on that side is missing. Their clothing is simple and practical: dark leathers and a forest-green cloak. They wear a gold button as a pendant.

Painterly bust of a fair-skinned half elf woman with a superior smirk. She has very long, straight blonde hair with some layers framing her face. She wears an asymmetrically tailored coat of deep purple in a shade to match her eyes. Beneath the coat is a white ruffle blouse tied at the neck with black ribbon. In the centre of her brow is an oval seafoam green gem. About her head floats a circlet made of mismatched bones which glow with necromantic light.

Painterly bust portrait of a kindly earth genasi woman. She has a soft, sweet smile. Her skin is warm grey with a pearlescent sheen where the light hits. Her hair is dark brown, curly and arranged in a messy low bun. She wears a purple cloak with a thin gold border over a simple cloth tunic in an orange shade. Her jewellery is gold: sunburst earrings and a pendant of the Church of Lathander. The background is a pastel sunrise sky.

Today's the day: 3.5 years ago I published my first D&D title, Bugbear Awakening, on DMs Guild. Right when AI art started taking over, I chose commissioned human art instead and invested $2,000. After several updates and spin-offs, I've finally broken even. #dnd #ttrpg

Screenshot of a DMs Guild royalty report covering 2022-12-08 to 2026-07-31. It lists ten titles in the Bugbear Awakening line (English and German, 5e and 5.5e editions, including Fey'ri, Bugbear species, and a Sword Coast/Delimbiyr Vale map pack) with units sold, net revenue, and royalties per title. Total royalties: $2,000.71.

I misunderstood your message. You see the criticism as misguided, apparently, not the book itself.

000

Martelo Schwarz @marteloschwarz.bsky.social · 08/06/2026

Do I understand it right that your main point of criticism is that the different cultures are merged together, some of them of different times? I am curious: Do you think a setting more focused on one culture and age would be better, or do you just think there was too much merged?

Martelo Schwarz @marteloschwarz.bsky.social · 06/06/2026
