In the oft-quoted question of "pantser" vs "plotter" could I propose a middle option? "Point-to-pointer". You have a rough idea of where you're going, but rather than a fully detailed plot you have a series of vague and moveable way points that lead toward a roughly outlined ending.

I would add that this is one of 3 author scams I’ve been targeted by in the last few weeks. Yes, you read that right: 3. And in the space of weeks. I’m in a pretty foul mood tonight because of how much these scams undermine what little trust and integrity were left in this enshittified ecosystem.

Literary scam alert. Someone is impersonating Johnny Temple, one of the publishers at Akashic Books. They contact you out of the blue claiming to have read a recent book and soliciting a manuscript. They then get back to you sometime later offering editorial services. A strange experience. (Thread)

I’d call Gotcha Day a success. Indigo didn’t like being bundled into a cat carrier, and the trip home took a little longer than ideal, but we made it. After hiding under the bed for an hour and a half, the little dude decided to come out and say hi. He likes headbutts. I am for this.

I have pretty severe IBS, so the American ass-blow epidemic is a deeply nasty “welcome to my world” moment. It shouldn’t be happening at all, but maybe it’ll also be a wake-up call to improve public restrooms there. When and if sanity is ever restored.

Last night this fox was hanging out on the sidewalk near the station. He let me come quite close (I didn’t try to touch him). I asked how he was doing, but he didn’t say anything. I thought he might have been injured or sick but he might also have been relaxing and indifferent to humans.
