One small advantage to the CBUS metro area is the year-round availability of good, used fitness equipment. I'm still holding out for some high quality adjustable dumbbells like Powerblock or the like. Fiddly is okay so long as they last and can get ~ 100lbs.

I've always used a GraLab darkroom timer with glow-in-the-dark numbering. Hit it with a flashlight before unloading film holders and faint glow will be visible for development times up to 20 minutes.

1+9 (or stronger) dilution for at least 2 min. should give you some visible toning. Make sure to have an extra print or two of the same density to compare while toning progresses.
