How ever did you get on that topic? And have you read Chatwin's On the Black Hill? It's set in Wales, not Scotland, and it's not specifically droving — I mean, okay, I guess it's not really related at all, fine — but it's a beautiful novel of British pastoralism and the invasion of the 20th century.

Every day, I sit in work meetings involving native speakers of 2, 3, or even (like today) 4 different languages. Today it was English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish. Every day, we get an absolute metric shit-ton of work done, helping farmworkers, the elderly, young children, and college students.

🫂 My father passed away recently from mesothelioma he contracted there. No diagnosis til a couple of years ago, despite years of respiratory problems. 9/11 Victim's Compensation Fund at least helped him out.
