A bench chosen by the people of Liverpool. Local people voted for this spot to mark @wecic.bsky.social 15th anniversary. Five years on, it’s become a place to pause, connect and take in one of the best views in the city. That makes me smile every time I walk past. 💚

I’ve published a new policy brief with Heseltine Institute exploring a simple idea: what if we took civic capability more seriously? Not just services for people - but the ability of people to participate, organise, lead, and shape the places they live. Read it here 👇 tinyurl.com/mrv4hubc

Today is #SocialPrescribingDay! After 25 years, I’ve learned this: health isn’t created in clinics, but in communities. The future lies in investing in people’s capabilities, community assets, and a shift towards health and wellbeing shaped by communities.

In Amsterdam, the painting that stopped me wasn’t a Van Gogh. Cuno Amiet’s The Yellow Hill (1903). The colours are deliberately heightened - unreal. He wasn’t painting accuracy, but vitality. Spring. Joy. In complex times, we need that reminder.
