You'd never guess from this @theguardian.com headline that Le Pen's party came joint 7th in this election.

AI 'enhance' will always invent detail based on its training data. It will never show you details that weren't captured in the original inage. How could it?

This video - on why Soviet Era Cybernetics failed to fix the planned economy - reminds me of @doctorow.pluralistic.net's comments on the hidden process knowledge of workers and why AI can't replace them. The Soviet leaders also didn't know how their economy really worked. youtu.be/OUig0Qwnc4I?...
Frame from the video on Soviet era cybernetics showing how the leadership thought their economy was top down, but it really only functioned because of middle mangers who knew how to bend the rules - something you can't automate.

It all ties together with this map drawn by Elon Musk's fascist granddad in the 1940s before he emigrated to South Africa. Trump has clearly seen it - its why he's obsessed with, Greenland, Canada and Venezuela

I wrote a letter published in today's @independent.ie calling for Dept of Justice officials to take inspiration from Raoul Wallenberg and issue visas to the Gazan students despite government policy. #speirgorm
In recent days, Israel's Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, has
publicly called for the nightly murder of '30 or 40' Palestinians,
describing Gazan civilians as 'not even people'. On Saturday, Israel's
Chief Rabbi David Yosef agreed in a speech, declaring Palestinians
'have no rights' and called for all of Gaza to be 'destroyed'. It is
against this background that Ireland's Department of Justice has
denied visas to those Palestinian students who have won fully funded
scholarships to study in the safety of our country.

In 1930s and 40s, a visa could mean the life or death. Most neutral
governments then had restrictive policies as they feared the
diplomatic consequences of openly acknowledging the ongoing genocide.
History remembers the names of officials who defied those policies
and issued visas anyway, often to the anger of their governments and
facing personal risk. They saved thousands of lives.Raoul Wallenberg at the Swedish Embassy in Budapest issued visas
regardless of his government's instructions. Visas in hand, those
refugees were able to travel to safety and survive the Holocaust.
Aristides de Sousa Mendes of the Portuguese consulate in Bordeaux
saved thousands more, disobeying the dictator of his country and
facing severe punishment. Today a museum in his honour stands in
Lisbon.

Are there any officials in Ireland's Department of Justice today
willing to take risks to do what is right? Will we in future remember
any of their names?

Before the glorious age of AI, a machine which could add numbers together was called a 'calculator'. But I guess everthing needs to be called 'AI' now to get press coverage.
