too bad then, it's like having a solid platform and being someone who might be an excellent legislator, but running a bad election campaign and never getting a chance to show what you can do

it *is* unreasonable to expect anything more than a tiny percentage of people to do this, and manufacturers don't like it either skimping on components and putting most of the resulting cost on customers is just bad; you'd think at least one company would try to market enhanced product reliability

I kept my last midrange dishwasher going for years by doing my own repairs, but what really annoyed me was that none of the work (maybe $100 in parts and a few hours of my time, but >$1000 if I'd called a repair technician) would have been needed if the manufacturer had spent $5 more on components

I've read most of the books so I knew this was coming eventually, but the show moved it up 😢 Also, what the hell is wrong with Cartwright and some/most of the team this season? They're behaving as if they're as stupid as Lamb says they are (even if he may think otherwise sometimes).

i.e. in the vein of Don't Look Up (2021), which I found was way too heavy-handed on the other hand, Trump was reelected after that film, so my subtle↔obvious scale may need recalibration

The Constitution allows it. South Korea has proven it works. If you want to make impeachment viable—and so much else is pointless if you don't—then it can be done by a simple majority adopting a simple rules change: vote on the verdict by secret ballot.

A Democratic Senate Should Adopt Secret Impeachment Ballots on a Priority Basis
Such a change, requiring no constitutional amendment, would free senators to vote their judgment instead of their fears

Martin Luther puts his theses in the church suggestion box. The bishop politely suggests he limit this to two or three per week so they can receive proper consideration. Annoyed, Luther pins them all to the bulletin board beside Brother Hermann's strudel recipe and Father Georg's cat sketches.
