Trump's insults have always sounded like the kind of thing the "mean high school cheerleader" would say, or maybe a 12-year old, pre-pubescent boy. Bitchy, whiny, clumsy and always the least masculine takes you could come up with. Never the kind of stuff you'd associate with an actual tough guy.

Annie, I'll be the first to admit, you are better informed about the state of rock music today and follow it far more closely than I have. 😁 I just feel many people who keep pushing for DEVO to be in the RRHOF have succumbed to NYT-crowd myth making. Interesting? Sure. Unique? Yes. But that's it.

No, but if was not impressed with their music 40-50 years ago, why would I? Did they get better? Like I said, I generally appreciate their musicianship, and they were original. But I just don't think they are deserving of the accolades that a relatively small subset of rock fans want to give them.

I was in high school and college during their “prime.” Almost noone played their music regularly…in the dorms, at parties, in bars. I think most of the “influential” hype around them is a myth perpetrated by folks who mistake their uniqueness for actual quality. 🙂

No better example than the Super Bowl to see how shitty TV advertising has become. Mostly horrible, forgettable bullshit commercials. A collection of celebrities does not sell anything. A music video is not a commercial. Most of the humor sucks. That's what advertising's "digital age" has given us.

Joe's timeline doesn't work out (too young) - but not sure why people assume he is confusing measles with chicken pox, and not Rubeola and Rubella - measles with different levels of severity and vaccines developed at different times. Regardless, both were widely available during his early childhood.

Joe can be a dunce, but he may be referring to Rubeola measles, which is different (and more serious) than Rubella (German measles). The former was quite common in the 1960s; a vaccine was developed in 1963, and an improved version in 1968. Recovering from Rubeola does provide lifelong immunity.

As an old ad guy - it breaks a lot of rules and is a terrible commercial. A lot of people who have not used an LLM won't get it - the text is too small, moving and too hard to read over the background. Google's Gemini ad with the lost lamb plush toy is brilliant in comparison. Show, don't tell.

Pondered this as I compared the series to "The Civil War" - just shows how far we've come over the past 30+ years. History isn't just about one group of people, it's about ALL people; different groups get affected in different ways. Recognizing this isn't "woke" - it's just telling the whole story.

Browns play calling has not improved with Stefanski giving up the job, and looks especially bad now with Sanders in the game. With no downfield threat, Ravens can just stack the box and stuff the run now...especially if O-line doesn't sustain their blocks though the whistle.

That muffed UCLA punt reminded me of a play in 8th grade CYO ball - one of our kids broke through the line and the punter kicked it right into his gut, just like tonight. Difference was, our kid was able to get his arms around it and run it into the end zone. 🤣😂🤣
