Got up ready to smash this 5K walking race and did so. 1st in age group, 9th among all men, 14th overall. 12:57 per mile average. Next stop, the Columbus half marathon. (Goal there is to beat my 2:58:57 time from last year.)

Maybe it’s editorial selectivity, but I was surprised how many young fans are portrayed or in crowd shots. But is it because Oasis is essentially classic rock for this generation? I can imagine a similar demo turning out if, say, Led Zeppelin reunited when I was in college.

You could argue something like DON’T LOOK BACK IN ANGER could be made about any artist and their fans. Nevertheless, with Oasis at the center it is weirdly cathartic (at least if you like the band). I had to laugh how much short shrift the U.S. gets in the film, though.

Perhaps one of these days I’ll visit Toronto again unrelated to the fest. Assuming there’s a time when lodging isn’t outrageously high. (RIP the Super 8 and its fair parking price too.) Although with the working out, I’ve been doing, I’m in better physical condition to weather the fest fatigue.

I think that’s the right call. I miss attending, but my impression is it has become even more expensive.

What I have not seen in the TIFF coverage is if they have a cringey 9/11 trailer like they did for the 10th anniversary.

I’ve noticed with popular and prolific authors that the local library system often has their catalogs divided among several locations rather than each one stocking everything.

Pitcher throwing way above the catcher or an infielder sailing a routine throw over the first baseman?

If it were 20 years ago, it seems like a Disney sports film about Vozhina and/or this Cape Verde team would be a lock, regardless of how this game turns out.

Pretty wild that the cultural impact of BACKROOMS has led to how VAR reviews in the World Cup show offsides.

I haven’t seen enough to know if it will last, but so far the Reds TV games being produced by MLB are an improvement vs. Fox Sports Net and then Bally Sports/Fan Duel. Technically cleaner and far fewer promo reads/gambling tie-ins.

I realize coaches want to micromanage especially at the end of games, but from a viewing experience, I would be happy to have the number of timeouts available to coaches be reduced. Let it play out.

Of the seven films I have seen so far at True/False, PHENOMENA is the best. A real visual dazzler paired well with music. Something worth seeing big with a great sound system.
