Meanwhile, in Triumph TR4 restoration news, the eagle has landed! After 4 years, the restored body shell was reunited with the chassis yesterday. Now just got to get all those holes to line up so I can bolt the two together!

Meanwhile, in Triumph TR4 restoration news, the rolling chassis has been on its holidays to Powerflow Exhausts in Ipswich to have its new exhaust manifold fabricated. Thanks to Trevor of T and L Transport for the lift:

Meanwhile, in Triumph TR4 restoration news, the final version of the custom exhaust manifold flange has been manufactured. Shout out to James at local laser cutting firm www.laserpatternsltd.com who has been patiently helping me finalise the design. Now to get the fabricators bending and welding!

Reporting from the tropical paradise that is Darkest Suffolk today. I give you the view of Felixstowe from the terrace of Bawdsey Manor this afternoon. Turner would be proud. #MartelloTower
View of Felixstowe in the mist. The Napoleonic-era Martello Tower fort is just visible. Taken from the terrace of Bawdsey Manor at the mouth of the estuary of the river Deben.

Meanwhile, in Triumph TR4 news, the joys of a bare metal restoration continue. My new [i.e. 60 years old used] bonnet had 10 [!] layers of paint on it. The good news was it had no rust underneath it. #TriumphTR4

Another year over. Looking back, not a vintage one for many reasons including the tragic loss of Blondie's drummer, Clem Burke. I put this, No Exit, their '99 comeback album through the old KT88 anodes today and, usual quirky genre jumping aside, it has stood the years very well. So long Clem,

Meanwhile, in Triumph TR4 restoration news, the Christmas update: Chassis now fitted-out. Replacement bonnet drilled to accept badging. Now saving-up for a new exhaust manifold and stainless steel system prior to refitting the body. Roll-on 2026! #TriumphTR4

Meanwhile, in Triumph TR4 restoration news, the engine rebuild is complete. Now where did I leave that new chassis? #TriumphTR4

Meanwhile, in Triumph TR4 restoration news, I'm continuing with the door refurb. Driver's side done so now on to the nearside and the news is less good. The bottom of the frame is rotten. Overlaid the bottom of a doner frame and cut through both. Cut now complete and ready for welding. Breathe!

Meanwhile, in Darkest Suffolk, I took the Bentley out to the joy that is the Friston Cars on the Green event today. Bumped into some former Sizewell A people and we had a good old nuclear chaps discussion involving moderator coefficients and neutron flux detectors. ...& there were some nice cars

Just enjoying a spin of No.1 son's Fathers Day prezzie vinyl. Dylan tickling the old KT88 anodes rather nicely:

Under a perfect blue sky today, a nice first trip out for the Bentley this year. The White Lion at Ufford held its little advertised but somehow always popular car show. Lots of pre-war cars and a big band entertainment to add to the atmosphere: youtu.be/xi8aJmukb8I...

Just going through my late mother's effects and came across a box of 35mm slides. Found one of me and my young cousin Paul sat on my Garelli [the Ferrari of mopeds!]. Taken in my parents garden in summer 1976 at my great-grandmother's 90th birthday party. 49 years ago:

Well, I couldn't have afforded it when it was new, but my old Bentley is still going strong after 90 years:

Meanwhile, in Triumph TR4 restoration news, today has been seam sealing the engine bay. Seam sealant in the most icky-sticky stuff invented so, to avoid the whole affair degenerating into a pit of industrial strength swearing, masking is needed. A lot of masking:

Meanwhile, in Triumph TR4 restoration news, the interior of the bodyshell is now painted. Just the engine bay to finish and then it's reuniting with the chassis time.
