The Martian Chronicles from a stack nearby, autographed it and gave it to me. He took a minute to ask me about my interests and hobbies, and said he hoped I enjoyed the book. I didn't think much of it at the time. But I finally read it a few years later, and became a huge Bradbury fan.

It's wild that this date is actually arriving. When I was a little kid, I met Ray Bradbury. He was so nice to me. My mother took me to a local library to hear him speak about his vision of the future. It was a fundraiser for the library. I was 14, a teenager uninterested in much but video games.

I still like picking up new physical copies of games. I order them online some, but I love going to the store to pick them up. It’s rare to get a manual these days but always a treat when it happens. It’s sad to me that an entire generation is missing out on this experience.

I remember driving to the mall on Sep 7, 1997, to pick up my preorder of Final Fantasy VII. I was 17. It was a Sunday, so I had to wait for the mall to open. I then sat in the car and opened the case because I was so excited. I wanted to see the manual before the 15 minute drive home. I miss that.
