The sign of a nation that has lost sight of what civilisation is. A bunch of savages whose influence over the rest of the civilised world is thankfully diminishing by the day.

I’ve racked my brains about this, but I can’t come up with a single logical suggestion of what she means. Has she finally flipped?

She’s an irrelevance. Ignore and move on.

Good luck with all this. We can’t even get a decent, reliable mobile phone signal on a train travelling between Birmingham and London.

Forty years on from Thatcherism and we’re still trying to put right the stuff she screwed up. What on earth makes the Tories think that destroying even more of our country is going to end up differently?

I love talking our country down While offering no solutions Because I’m a grifting gobshite Who likes to incite unrest Small boat crossings are down 44% Deportations are the highest in 10 years Immigration is 82% lower But who needs facts When you can make up lies

It’s only worrying if you think the Tories might win the next election. Not a snowball’s chance in hell of that happening.

Why is Nigel Farage back on air? Ofcom bans politicians from presenting news programmes, but GB News claims Farage's show is just 'current affairs' despite him using it to defend Reform's £72m in donations. Close the loophole now.

Rachel Johnson who was interviewing her didn't push back at all and even seemed to be agreeing with her. Here's a fuller account from the police. Absolutely scandalous that an MP is not condemning this act of terrorism
Detective Chief Superintendent James
Derham, who leads local policing in the
Bexley area, said: "It was miraculous
that nobody was killed or seriously
injured in the large explosion caused
by Rees

"He showed a complete disregard for
the welfare and safety of the people
who live in, or were travelling through,
the area at the time of the explosion -
all because he was unhappy with the
ULEZ scheme

"CCTV from a bus travelling down the
road at the time shows how it narrowly
missed the blast of debris by seconds

Sadly, it speaks volumes about how low our own media have sunk over the last few years. If they can’t look after one of their own, then how can we expect them to work for their readers, listeners and viewers? All told, they’re a pretty despicable bunch.

Labour has wasted two years when such a commission could have been set up, carried out its work and reported its findings. Thus reducing the window when this could have happened. Despite that, I agree wholeheartedly.

There is an unpleasant arrogance about almost everyone associated with Reform. They’re happy to call out others, but when the spotlight falls on them, they really don’t like to be held to account. This is just not acceptable.

It’s also blackmail - which I guess, when you’re dealing with people who think nothing of big time cheating, is only be expected. Irrespective of any arguments about the wider issue of foreign investment in our football clubs, this must be challenged and give the short shrift it deserves.

Markeye @markeye.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Absolutely. And it’s her disastrous legacy that we’ve been trying to overcome for the last few decades. Most of today’s problems have their roots in what Thatcher did - loss of North Sea oil revenues, privatisation of basic utilities, selling off social housing with no replacements.

These ‘protests’ have brought out the real scum in our society. Thus far they’ve been given, effectively, a free reign to carry out these actions, which has emboldened them further. We must say: “No more.” We need a massive crackdown, backed by substantial force where necessary.

This is what I don’t understand about Hollywood/TV. They’ll take something good that was hugely successful originally and remake it into something that everyone will say is inferior to the original. Why not take something good that was poorly envisioned first time around and make a better version?

Markeye @markeye.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Quite. I remember things very differently - because I was working through the 70s, so I was actually there, living through it. And you’re absolutely right. Thatcher was the architect of much that we’re still trying to put right today.

I think this is ill-advised from Burnham. It’s clear the club has got where it is by cheating. No one - least of all a prime minister - should have anything but criticism for that.
050
Markeye @markeye.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Expecting consistency from Reform is pointless. Their entire approach is based on what might get them a cheap headline - even if it’s the opposite of something they said a few days ago. And sadly our mainstream media play along with them.

Of course it does. But that’s not the point I’m making. The costs of a fully-funded care system are massive and the contribution the triple lock will make is relative peanuts. Yet the headline rhetoric suggests that ditching the triple lock will sort it all out. It won’t.

What we want is stuff actually being done rather than talked about. We’re over two years into a Labour government and I’m marginally worse off than I would likely have been under the Tories. That’s the judgement most people are making - not whether the economy grew by 0.5% in the last month.

They’re following the Reform playbook. The money doesn’t exist, but it’s a message people want to hear. Until it gets implemented and services are ravaged to deliver the insane promise.
