Fortunately here in California, state-regulated health plans are required to cover state-recommended vaccines. For COVID vaccines, that's everybody six months and older.

I'm 65+ so yay for being old and officially eligible, but younger people if challenged could claim "physical inactivity" from CDC's list of conditions known to increase risk of severe COVID, and thus pass the eligibility test because no provider is going to contest that. Walgreens isn't picky, LOL.

This Californian has also noticed the unusual lull, and my best guess is that our so-far very mild winter has played a role in that due to less indoor congregation in good weather.

Great LAist article expanding an important story brought to light by Surf City Sentinel. :-) Key quote: “Surveillance equipment and surveillance, in general, are a lot of times a crutch for bad social policies,” he said. “They don't solve the underlying issues of crime.” laist.com/news/politic...

Why were surveillance cameras installed in Huntington Beach’s most iconic Latino neighborhood?

The city says the cameras are intended to fight crime. Some residents worry they could be used to aid in federal immigration enforcement.

Bruce MacKinnon, the editorial cartoonist at the Halifax Chronicle-Herald, drew this last November. No newspaper would print it. It now deserves an outing.

A cartoon is headed “How tariffs work”. It proceeds to show a cartoon of Trump in his suit and red tie taking a piss towards a fan with a Canadian maple leaf on it. The fan blows Trump’s piss back into his face.
It was drawn and is signed by Bruce MacKinnon and is dated November 26, 2024
