One thing I forgot to mention when we reviewed Mando and Grogu was how irked I was that they were using playing cards for wanted Imperials like Bush Jr. did in Iraq 2. I think comparing the New Republic's Nazi hunt to an illegal, botched invasion is bad form.
Someone shuffles though a deck of alien looking playing cards.A gloved hand holds a hexagonal card with the silhouette of a human head.

CAPTAIN MADISON
Well, Defence Force won’t have their prize today. We’re going to help these poor bastards get back home.
LT. GRABES looks disturbed. LT. COMMANDER JORDAN is downright enraged.
LT. COMMANDER JORDAN
Are you out of your mind?
CAPTAIN MADISON
I can assure you, First Officer, I am quite sane. (HE SITS UP) Earth has made little or no attempt to provide the Romulans with an olive branch. We have an opportunity of a lifetime here and I plan on taking it.
LT. COMMANDER JORDAN stands up forcefully.
LT. COMMANDER JORDAN (VOICE RAISED)
Sir! You are ordering an unauthorized mission that does not serve the interests of the United Earth Defence Force! You have been growing more and more visibly disillusioned with your command and I can no longer look the other way while you endanger this crew!CAPTAIN MADISON stands up as well and steps forward, nearly face to face with LT. COMMANDER JORDON. His voice is now raised to a yell.
CAPTAIN MADISON
Do you intend to mutiny, Commander!?
LT. COMMANDER JORDAN is unsure what he’s getting himself into, but he can’t contain his anger. He is now screaming.
LT. COMMANDER JORDAN
Some has to stop you from getting us all killed! There is an uncomfortable beat. The whole bridge is completely silent. The crew stare with anxiety at the two conflicting officers. LT. COMMANDER JORDAN’S face suddenly changes to one of desperation. He half whispers in a pleading voice.
LT. COMMANDER JORDAN
Please, Kyle! Don’t do this!CAPTAIN MADISON stands firm. He turns away from LT. COMMANDER JORDAN and steps back toward his command chair but does not sit down.
CAPTAIN MADISON (TO THE COMMUNICATIONS OFFICE)
Address inner craft.
COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
System open, sir.
CAPTAIN MADISON (TO THE INTERCOM)
This is the captain. We have encountered a disabled enemy ship with survivors on board and I have decided to help them return to Romulan space as a show of respect and compassion.

As MADISON speaks we see scenes of various crew in different parts of the ship listening to his speech including STILES in engineering, crew walking through hallways, and the two men in the Torpedo room.
CAPTAIN MADISON
I understand this will be an extremely dangerous mission and one we may not return from.

I used to have a 400mm mirror lens that I paired with that 2x teleconverter to take insane shots of the sun and moon. I regret parting with it. Though, Minolta stuff is still shockingly cheap despite its glass being on par with Leica (and, in some cases, Minolta made glass for Leica).

LT. GRABES (INTERCOM)
Captain to the bridge! All decks, alert!
CAPTAIN MADISON lifts himself up and wanders to a view screen. He flicks the screen on and a squints at the bizarrely fresh and mildly pleased face of LT. GRABES.
CAPTAIN MADISON
What the hell’s going on GRABES?
LT. GRABES
We’ve spotted an enemy vessel, Sir. It appears to be disabled.
CAPTAIN MADISON

INT. STALWART BRIDGE

CAPTAIN MADISON
Status report, Mr. Grabes.
LT. GRABES
The Romulan vessel is damaged and adrift, Captain. It’s engineering section is exposed to space. Several heat signs aboard indicate survivors. Readings show they have enough battery power for minimal life-support.CAPTAIN MADISON (MUTTERING TO HIMSELF)
We’ve never seen a Romulan ship this close up that wasn’t firing on us or blowing itself up. (ALOUD TO JORDAN) You’re thoughts, Commander?
LT. COMMANDER JORDAN turns to face CAPTAIN MADISON.
LT. COMMANDER JORDAN
Could be a trap, sir. In four years of war no Earth vessel has ever experienced a situation like this.
CAPTAIN MADISON clasps his hands and rests his chin on them. He looks intently at the view screen.
CAPTAIN MADISON
Without warp drive a sneak attack would be impossible. We’d see them coming a light year away.LT. COMMANDER JORDAN
It could be a suicide mission. Wait for us to get close and then self-destruct taking us with them.
LT. GRABES
That’s definitely a possibility, sir. But they would require one hell of a power build up on very short notice. Their fusion reactors are cold.
LT. COMMANDER JORDAN
(TO GRABES SMILING) If that’s the case then we have ourselves a real prize! (TO MADISON) A Romulan ship with real Romulans on board. Even dead we’d finally get a look at them face to face.
CAPTAIN MADISON stares at the view screen even more intently. His eyes squint in deep thought. We see the Romulan ship grow larger in the viewer, her damage becoming more apparent.

We both feel that way. One thing touchscreens taught us is that they lack muscle memory and digging through menus to get to important features takes time and attention. That's why cameras and car dashboards are reverting to physical controls. And video games and real spaceships never adopted them.

LT. COMMANDER JORDAN
It’s a matter of justice, isn’t it?
CAPTAIN MADISON
Justice? The Romulans can barely defend themselves. They don’t even have warp drive. It isn’t a fair fight.
LT. COMMANDER JORDAN
But it’s a fight they chose and we need to finish it or risk coming off as weak. If we give up now the next aggressive species will step up - maybe even the Romulans again with new technology. You know that as well as I do.
CAPTAIN MADISON
I DO know that, or at least I did.Turns to LT. COMMANDER JORDAN.
CAPTAIN MADISON
But where does it end if the Romulans won’t surrender despite continued losses? Do we conquer their world? Occupy it? Rebuild it in our own democratic image? Who would be the aggressor then?
LT. COMMANDER JORDAN looks uncomfortable.
CAPTAIN MADISON
And what if they still keep fighting - And there’s every indication they would - do we continue killing them until every Romulan man, woman, and child is dead? Wouldn’t that constitute a genocide? Can you really commit genocide in self-defense? There's not a lot of love between us, Landon. There hasn't been for a long time. But you have to know there's at least some truth in what I'm telling you.LT. COMANDER JORDAN
I think you're selling me short, Kyle. I'm just not the one
with the power to change things. You'll lose your career over this. I don't want that to happen.
CAPTAIN MADISON leans against a viewport pane and looks out are the vast blackness.
CAPTAIN MADISON
No mater how warm the room is, this glass is always cold. Why is it always cold?
LT. COMMANDER JORDAN
You need to snap out of this, Kyle. Your ambivalence toward the war is beginning to show on the bridge. I’ve noticed it and the crew is noticing it. They can’t function if they don’t think they can count on you in a difficult situation.
CAPTAIN MADISON
Duly noted, Commander.

ENGINEER STILES
So, Grabes, I hear you bagged another single shot kill on a Romulan ship today.
LT. COMMANDER JORDAN
Grabes has got to have up to 20 of them by now. The top brass will probably be promoting her any day now.
LT. GRABES
It’s 24 kills, actually. I’m hoping to have 30 notches on my wall by the end of the year.
All of them laugh. CAPTAIN MADISON is quietly eavesdropping on their conversation. He speaks to them without looking up.
CAPTAIN MADISON
You should show more respect when addressing the dead.GRABES looks over to MADISON. She looks even more nervous than before. She stutters as she speaks.
LT. GRABES
Eh..eh..excuse me, sir?
MADISON looks up now.
CAPTAIN MADISON
The dead, Grabes. Those who have bravely fought you and have been defeated by you.
MADISON’S voice raises slowly to a cold, controlled yell so the whole room can hear.
CAPTAIN MADISON
They may be our enemies and they may not hold our values but they are still soldiers like us and in my presence you will show them some respect, damn it.
The room quiets and all eyes are on the officer’s table. MADISON stands to leave. The room resumes its chatter again. Before he can get far JORDAN also stands.
LT. COMMANDER JORDAN
Sir, I’d like to speak to you in private when you have a chance.
CAPTAIN MADISON
You know where to find me, Exec.INT. MADISON'S QUARTERS
Madison sits at the edge of a bed shirtless. Jordan is behind him frowning under the covers.
MADISON
Was there anything else you wanted to discuss, Landon?
JORDAN
Curse you, Kyle! You know this isn't what I came down here for.
MADISON
Yes, I know. You wanted to talk to me about my attitude and the crew's feelings. Haven't we had this discussion a million times before?
JORDON
We never get to have this discussion because you manipulate your way out of it every time! Do you know the flack I'm getting because of you? I can't sit down to a plate of food cubes witout dealing with a weepy navigator and mutinous chief engineer wailing in my ear?
MADISON
Ha, Ha. Mutinous? Are you telling me I should have Stiles keel-hauled? Shall we drag her along at warp, or will impulse do?
JORDAN
I'm telling you something needs to change. At least tell me why you've been out of it the last two months. I'm not leaving here 'till I get some sort of answer!MADISON
You know I was an ensign on the first warp capable exploration ship?
JORDAN
I remember. I didn't join up much later than you.
MADISON
I was going to meet the people on those “strange new worlds”. I didn’t expect I’d be slaughtering them one campaign at a time. I listen to bright, young junior officers trained in science and exploration ticking off battle casualties like they’re scoring points. Death and killing means so little to them now. We’ve tainted a generation...
LT. COMMANDER JORDAN
The Romulans did start this war, Kyle.
CAPTAIN MADISON
You don’t think I know that, LANDON? There isn’t a person on this ship who didn’t know someone on those colonies. But what does who started what matter now? We’ve been doing this for four years and where has it gotten us?

INT. STALWART - MESS ROOM
We pan across several tables in a not quite sanitary looking cafeteria. The tables are full of crewmen and women eating and talking. The camera stops at the back where the officer’s table is. LT GRABES, LT COMMANDER JORDAN, and ENGINEER STILES sit together talking in muted, shameful voices.
ENGINEER STILES
Listen, if it wasn’t for you guys on the bridge pulling more than your own weight we’d all be dead by now.
LT. GRABES looks down disheartened into a metal cup she’s holding in both hands.
LT. GRABES
It’s true, Captain Madison has been a little out of it lately.
ENGINEER STILES smacks his hand forcefully against the table and yells the loudest whisper he can.
ENGINEER STILES
A little?! He has to be badgered and prodded into any kind of decision making whenever one of those buzzard ships come into sight. He freezes!LT. COMMANDER JORDAN
It’s not so much freezing. It’s more like... disinterest.
ENGINEER STILES
Whatever it is he’s going to get us all killed one day. We’ve got to do something.
LT. COMMANDER JORDAN
We’re all tired, Stiles. Several years of combat takes its toll on the best of us. We’ve both known Madison a long time now, and we have to trust he’s capable of pulling himself out of this kind of battle fatigue.
ENGINEER STILES
I’m just saying I know how my engineering crew feels. They’re worrying Madison is loosing his grip, and possibly even becoming a Romulan sympathizer. We have enough of those peacenik traitors back home. We don’t need one leading us into battle. If you were to challenge his actions I know the crew would...
An off screen crewman yells out something over the crowd’s noise.
CREWMAN
Captain on deck! The camera slides over a room full of crewmen once relaxed and eating now standing at attention. It stops at the doorway with the figure of CAPTAIN MADISON standing in it. He steps forward and the door closes shut behind him.
CAPTAIN MADISON
As you were.
The crew sit and resume their chatter. Madison walks over to the officer’s table and sits down at the end, several seats away from the three conspiring officers already seated there. He addresses each one as he sits.
CAPTAIN MADISON
First Officer, Navigator, Engineer.
All three nod and respond with a muted “Hello Captain”. A mess crewman approaches MADISON with a tray of food and a cup. MADISON begins picking at his food the officers nervously resume a different conversation.

We know there were similar mounts on the NASM's top because we can see the wires in shots of the model being filmed. The NASM might have had a mount on the top of it's conning tower as well. “Wholesome himbo” is a perfect descriptor for a guy who considers this porn.

How come Romijn’s puppet is so short? She’s the same height as Mount and taller than Olusanmokun.
A puppet of T’Pring, Pike, Number One, and M’Benga look expectantly at flesh and blood Spock who sits on a med bed in front of them.

Sometimes?
Data and LaForge look at parts of Lore in a refrigerated cabinet. The torso, while sculpture like a Greek god, doesn’t seem to have a belly button. A closeup of Norman Rolfe androids tummy as he lifts his shirt up. His pupik is just visible below his circuit panel peaking out of his pants.

Kor was suggested for A Private Little War, but Bob Justman wrote one of his sarcasm riddled memos saying it would be ridiculous to have him because of the impossibility they’d run into each other again in a big universe.
Memory Alpha bullet point describing a Robert Justman memo about Kor being in A Private Little War. It reads:

In Don Ingalls' original story outline, the Klingon antagonist was Kor from the episode "Errand of Mercy". In a May 26, 1967 memo, Bob Justman criticized this point, writing, "Here we are in the outer reaches of our galaxy and who should Captain Kirk run into, but good old Kor – an adversary that he has encountered before and with whom he has been unable to get very far. Just think of it – billions of stars and millions of Class M-type planets and who should he run into, but a fella he has had trouble with before. No wonder Kor doesn't recognize him at first. The coincidence is so astounding, that he must feel certain that it couldn't possibly have happened." In Don Ingalls' second draft story outline, the character's name was changed to Krell.

There’s some pics of the Enterprise in Drexler’s folder that I’ve never seen in the wild. Mostly of its arrival and display at NASM pre 1992 restoration. Boy does everyone hate Ed Miarecki’s work. Must have felt great to undo all that in 2016.

That would be telling, wouldn’t it, Nero?

And now a choice of Klingon D7 power pods. The top one in each picture is from the MOPOP model. The bottom ones are from the NASM, which you'll recall was the screen used prop. This gives you a better idea of why the MOPOP version would be impossible to do a straight pressing of in a mold.
