Charcoal and marker drawing of our dear old pug, Gus, who gave us 14 adorable years

Black and white drawing of a black pug dog, the gray on his face showing his age. He looks muscular and tough, but is a sweetie pie.

I bet we two would be at ease. Good thing we didn't meet in 1985 lol

It really depends on the person, not me. Verrrry rare for me to know someone I am 100% at ease with. My daughter is one. My ex was another. Holland person, close. I think that's it, really! Quarantine wasn't taken very seriously in my dumb little home town, except by our friends. Some masking.

Why does cancelling feel so good, though? 🤦‍♂️🤣 What brain chemical does it release?

Mark Kenneth King @mark-kenneth-king.bsky.social · 07/06/2025

Yeah, I don't get many invites lately so I definitely show up now! Meeting my pal from the Netherlands, that was scary as heck, but we ended up being old slacker friends in person as much as online, so no exhaustion. Every meetup in a city is an ordeal but I'm getting better at it. 😅

But I hear you. A lotta folks just revel in hanging out, and I need a shit ton of downtime! I call a group nap time! 🤣

My kid and I both are social phobes and "commitment-avoidant" lol. She's actually leading me in last-minute cancellations 😄, but I'm no slouch at begging off. So I give her tons of slack, honestly. She has a very full life. And every time I think of this, I feel like I need to not take it so bad 🤷‍♂️

pritzker called on people to rise up. so, people seem to be rising up. they could use political back up. I hope he and other Ds make statements of support.

Well, that's good! But yeah, it's a "boundary" that I think is willfully unkind.

😆 after 3-4 hrs of socialing and small talk I literally feel like I have the flu. I prophylactically take 3 ibuprofen before I "go out" 🤣💊

She didn't block you, did she? Ugh, so sorry. My kids haven't cut me off yet but I self-imposed a ban on texting them cuz I think it just ups the discomfort flowing back & forth. I don't think I'm a bad or terribly embarrassing parent, & I don't think you are, either. But, sheesh, they're grownass 🤷‍♂️

She was into Hagen... We never had her in the mix much tho. Or Klaus Nomi! Who I kinda liked despite not being an opera buff. We were fans of ol' Captain Beefheart however! youtu.be/82gyb0cFJ20?...

Oh sure I gotcha! And I bet you are correct. Lovich wasn't huge in the US but she was definitely "in the air." My girlfriend at the time was always one step ahead of everyone in town, lol, and she had LL, Talking Heads '77, and Sparks in constant rotation. Loved the theatrical :)

Yep & thx! :) She has so many customers roaming around Indiana with her work on their bodies! We were shopping a couple yrs ago, a lady comes up & asks "Are you Nevada Buckley? Oh this is so cool, I follow you on Instagram!" 🤣🤣🤣 Last time I looked she had over 5k followers. She's also very loveable!

Sending out this tattoo design by my daughter to fiber frens @lostchaiway.bsky.social and @gravesco.bsky.social 💗 and to one and all! Tattoo artist: @vada-rituals.bsky.social

Tattoo: A woman knits or crochets (I get confused) a large patterned piece. Her hands hold knitting needles, and a ball of sound yarn is on her lap. Her hair has rather lovely loose hairs drifting about.

An example of my daughter's very loveable and personal tattoo art style. The young woman is what I call a "Nevada being" and appears often in her work. Book a tattoo with her if you plan to be in Indianapolis at some point in the foretold future! @vada-rituals.bsky.social

Tattoo: A young woman holds a beloved dog and cat on her lap. She wears what appears to be a crown of bones, knee length woolen skirt, net stockings, and cute elongated Chucks.

Today's Cat Guest Star™️ is Filo, a charismatic wizard cat who strayed into his owner's life as a wee kitten. Now he rests easy on her crocheted cat pad 😻

A plush, long haired tabby cat with an evil green gaze meditates upon his black and green crocheted square.
