That's wonderful! Prince was one of the coolest most musically talented men alive. Bill is a huge fan too, hence the painting. It was/is a gift, and is part of a triptych that we have hanging in our foyer passing judgement on all who enter! 😁💜

My foyer featuring: Marshal Bass Reeves, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Prince Rogers Nelson and, Malik el'Shabazz a.k.a. Malcolm X.

#SensoryArt #Loud #ArtChallenge #Abstract #OilPainting #FineArt This is another painting in my Synaesthesia series. There is an odd synergistic connection with the word 'loud' for me when I look at this work. Click on the link in the thread below to read the story behind this work.🧵👇

Original work by Maria Jones-Phillips entitled: Poem for Che as Told by a Synaesthete - Oil on canvas, 2022.

Intuitive abstract painting created with a palette-knife.

Likewise, Cynde. I'm glad we have a relative safe-haven here. It's good to engage in more positive things right now. We all have things we're dealing with irrespective of the ensuing circus. I found pics of my resistance monkeys. I added an explanation in the alt text.

I always used to tell my children that I wasn't a performing monkey (I would imagine an organ-grinder's monkey wearing a little red fez and a waistcoat). That was the inspiration behind the brooche's design. Plus the big orange circus clown had been elected as President the first time around, and all around Washington DC were signs urging us all to "Resist!". Each monkey holds a sign that says 'RESIST' in honour of that sentiment.

I posted these here recently. I'd have to locate the other purely silver or metal pieces.

Another small joy, which I find very therapeutic is mixing my own colours with watercolour and gouache. I use little clam shells as paint pans.

I hear you. I'm terrible at remembering names, but I do remember seeing this painting of his at the SAAM in Washington DC. The vertiginous perspective was arresting. It's an amazing feeling to come across in person paintings that you've loved for many years. 🥰

Well that's a pain. I made a recipe card for you instead. 🥰

Thank you very much, Ian! I went all out with this one because it was my Dad. I wanted to get it as realistic as possible. No mean feat, I can tell you! His jacket did my head in lol! Here are some progress pics from when I was working on it... took me months.

Thanks, Juan. Some of the true Rococo mocha cup handle designs were quite impractical. My newer design is based on some of those. Some even had the handles poised above the rim of the cup. Like this:

I have seen this one in person. I love Kandinsky's work. It's a very curious portrait. Thank you for reposting my painting btw, Jay. I had a look at some more of Beeple's work. I came across this one I really liked.

This is a nice shot. I should revisit my own aquarium shots. That was a good visit. My brain is telling me your profile pic looks like a Christmas Pudding.

Lol! Sometimes that's what it takes. I can't tell you how many I've repainted things until I was happy. It's all valuable practise though. I particularly love the work of watercolour artist Josep Tapiró-Baró, who painted portraits of people wearing shells.
