Digital Commons EDIC - European Sovereignty Through Digital Commons Open Source Conference Luxembourg
What does digital sovereignty look like in practice—and how can Europe achieve it? The Digital Commons EDIC brings countries together to develop shared digital infrastructure and resources that can strengthen Europe’s digital sovereignty. But digital commons are not new. What makes this European approach different, and what problems can it actually solve? This panel will introduce the DC-EDIC, explore its vision for digital sovereignty, and examine how shared infrastructure, open technologies, and collective governance can contribute to a more resilient, interoperable, and sovereign digital Europe through the eyes of the newly founded organisation and its Member States.

The face of a happy dog who has the Whole Garden to himself for a change and is choosing to sit under the rose arch to guard some Very Important shirts.
Colour photo of a scruffy urban garden. In the foreground a laughing white samoyed dog lies under a flowering pale pink rose arch with three white-ish shirts hanging from it. Behind him is some tufty grass broen up by patches of Cotswold stone coloured pebbles, a raised vegetable bed with a few small lettuces, and a blue-green wooden garden shed with a line of flower-pots under its front-facing window.

Colour photo taken late at night, of an exterior house wall directly abutting a canal. The wall is made of ochre-grey stone, but seems to be almost entirely composed of windows, thirty or so in all, over three floors; the lower ones windows are small and square, and those the upper two storeys are narrow and elegantly arched. All are unlit, apart from a cluster of four just to the left of the centre of the frame, which are vibrantly lit from inside with a warm yellow glow. A vaporetto water bus, fuzzy with motion blur, streaks through the frame from right to left, its passenger cabin a bright fluorescent white, and with a neon red beacon on its roof, reflected also in the ink-black water of the canal. There is a strong juxtaposition between the still, old, warm-looking building, and the modern, moving, cold-coloured vaporetto.
